Way cooler!!!!!
I suggested this one half-joking, but looks like I’ll be turning up the tone, playing with a pick and singing! thanks Jeff! Ultimately the sound of a bass comes from the pu's and where they are positioned, so my TeiscoBluebird sounds like a T-bird. I dare say (and have yet to see this) but if one were to mount T-bird pu's in the same location as on a gen1 bird, on a Ric - it would sound like a T-bird. So in a world of hybrids - it comes down to what bass is physically comfortable/preferable for an individual to play, and what tone/sound do you want.
Since my 1st Real bass was an EB3, I kinda got used to the neck pup being at the neck. After I got the 67, I got used to it being where it is-like the above. If I want real bottomy sound, I finger my Bird(insert"ehem"here)just behind the base of the neck.

That would be a really interesting experiment on a stereo Ric.<edit> Coupla ThunderBuckers-ooh!thanks Jeff! So true, and some basses are more responsive to right hand location than others. My VP is exceptionally responsive to right hand location. I rarely if ever play any of my basses much south of the neck pup. On the VP I rarely play it more than an inch from the heel.Players have their preference of where they like to pluck/pick. I think there is such a wide range of tones to be had depending on positioning.
My '67 NR is 52" long, that bag is 50". I s'pose I could cut 2" offa the headstock.......![]()
Normally I play between the pup cover and the bridge cover, but for that bass-y sound , I rest my thumb on the heel of the neck.So true, and some basses are more responsive to right hand location than others. Yeah, I'm hip(not really). My quest continues[I can get a custom Flight case for $450 +/-]. There are also some Mil-spec gun cases that will work for around $240.My EpiTVP is 50.5” tip to tip and just barely fits. Yours would not.
Personal preference(being weird): Jenny Agutter there on the right.droolMy fact for today: The pic Pillo posted of Farrah is awesome.
I did that with a similar keyboard case/bag, but it's heavy(25+ lbs w/o bass)and awkward.I kicked around the idea of getting something like this and using foam and fake fur to create an interior that would work with any of my Birds. There are lower priced options as well but the sizing on many would work.
Gator GK-88 Semi-Rigid Keyboard Case
Her too. But couldn’t remember her name.Personal preference(being weird): Jenny Agutter there on the right.drool
At my cover band’s practice last night we were deciding on tunes for our upcoming Halloween pub gig:
The Time Warp
Werewolves of London (David Lindley ska version)
I Want Candy (Bow Wow Wow)
Thriller (not my pick, but works with Tbird angry piano sound instead of synth bass)
BORIS THE SPIDER!!!I suggested this one half-joking, but looks like I’ll be turning up the tone, playing with a pick and singing!
I already know the words (what bass playing Who fan doesn’t?)
I just need to get an octave down effect on my vocals for the chorus - any ideas?
