Would go that route, too. Reverse maple 50s p bass. Don't know if any fender product has blockinlays on those basses, though. So it'd most likely be a warmoth.

A warmoth neck could cause a problem scale wise, as they feature a 21th fret, which would throw the intonation out of whack... Unless you remove a considerable part of the neck heel and leave that 21th fret hanging over the body of the bass...

The custom builder let's you take 20 frets. Just checked out the neck I'd put on it. It's worth twice an ordinary epi. Block inlays cost 90 freaking dollars. Binding 110$. No mounting holes are 15 more than drilling 4 holes. Pretty expensive stuff tbh.

Those are nasty saws... I used one when I removed two walls in my apartment, to cut the walls in manageable sizes to throw in the trash container... :)

This just goes to tell you I have been a professional knuckle dragger. I own one, and it has a lot of miles on it. You can actually be fairly delicate with one, but it takes a while to figure it out. And everything is relative. It's called demolition for a reason. I love it, but it stays in its case unless something really, really needs to be cut up. It goes through metal. It goes through plaster. It goes through wood. There should be a horror movie made about Sawzalls. The only tool I can think of that's scarier is the portable band saw.

Thought I'd try to post my amp. Jule Monique preamp into a Jule M700 into a Bergantino 4x10. Killer sounding rig! Wonderfully producing the THUNDER from my Bird.

Our Queen probably just used a steak knife.. or maybe a :beaver:

Close!
I did undercut quite a bit of the fret board end, small hand saw and some files to clean it up.
It's my Crapbird, which may sound like I don't care but really it's a handy bass - Last time I played it live it sounded great even after sitting outside on a stand getting cool before an outdoor evening show. I'd never even take a Gibson out for something like that.

21 fret Warmoth necks have an overhung last fret same heel as a 20 fret Fender.. G&L doesn't overhang, doesn't matter it's still different from the Epi neck profile. Pick your poison. Don't be faint of heart, break out the router.

Hey, a 69 year old man can do it. What are you girly men?..oops, sorry,Mark.:D Geez but you kids, if there ain't an app for it, it doesn't get done!

Yikes - I bet it would make for an interesting day in the workshop if while using a hand held router you found the end of the metal truss rod or stiffening bars. But that's why you're a pro and I'm not! BTW - I'm still noodeling around with different design and build concepts for a unique Fenderbird that I hope to have you quote on someday.

70s greco thunderbird single pickup. Just finished recording an album and it was some of the best tone I have ever had.

Now I just need to find myself a non reverse and I'll be set.

I bet that's creamy, rawr sex thru that Reeves rig!

Shall I add you to the club?

It's easier to modify the body neck pocket than undercut the neck! I did do some damage to myself a few years ago with a hand router. Tore a hole in my hand a nicked a tendon in my thumb. Very close call! Th enerve still buzzes when I move my thumb a certain way, reminds me not to be stupid.

Hell yea!

It's awesome through the reeves live but for recording I use a dr504 clone that I built. Something about the mids in the original hiwatt circuit. But the bottom end of the reeves is magnificent.

They work well together too!

Killer rig!

The original Demeter Bass preamp was based on one of Pete Townshend's HiWatts that Jim had in for repair at Hollywood Sound in the 1980s.

Probably why it's called the VTBP-201. Fantastic recording pre.

Funny you mention that. I'm contemplating getting a demeter vtbp-m-800d for smaller gigs. Our gigs I just want to bring a light rig. Getting lazy in my old age haha
