I was just kind of happy to have been able to make the pinky remark.I thought he looped his cord through it, like most players do around the strap-peg/strap, so when I saw the pic of him playing with that not happening... (and no pinky there) I had to ask. I figured it wasn't a napkin holder...

Old pic in reply to Epi Bird query.Dude! Shoes.................And a bridge cover![]()
Remind me again what the thing mounted under the bridge does...
He puts his pinky in there.

You are bad, your Grace...I used to think it was strange...…..Then I saw pics of me playing and very often my pinkie (yes, I said pinkie) is extended (Ahenmmm….) across the bridge cover or the bare bridge......I'm bad.

Andii - there appear to be many different Spector models that are loosely called Spector Birds.
Spector made the TBird shaped Legend, Rex Pro, Skull, Forte and NS-2X that many casually call Spector Birds. I have Rex Pro5 (shown in avatar) and can get the measurements if you want them.
Correct, but is it this one...

Or this one...

...or is Andii just using the generic term Spector Bird, which opens it up for lots of options.
The Hamer is different size and slightly different shape, like the Spector. Similar but the lines don't "flow" the same. On the Gibson the bout where the guard attaches is about a 1/2" away from the neck than on the Hamer or Spector (Gibson goes out 6" and H & S are 5 1/2"). On both copies the bout does not go as wide and goes up at a steeper angle. The "shoulder" on the bass side of the neck is about 1/4" taller than the Gibson and does not flow as smoothly. Both the Hamer and Gibson are about 9" wide across the center between the pickups. Spector is gone so can't tell you for sure on the sizes. The Hamer and Spector are much thicker than Gibson/Epi Birds are as well and weigh a bit more.
Not sure if this helps at all.
I'm still new to this Tbird thing, but I'm really loving this bass. What an amazing sound. Blows away all of my other basses - no question. I've never played a bass that can produce such a wide variety of sounds with just hand position and technique. Thundering lows, growl, smooth ... does it all! And the black beauties are growing on me. I've always played flats so these are a new thing for me. So far I like the sound of these strings a LOT, and am slowly getting used to the feel.
Oh yeah! The gloves are HOT!It's the gloves, isn't it?
Them’re HOT too but it’s the Bird!I bet it's the leather pants
Beauty’s! Looks like someone’s got a Supertone bridge! Are those Hipshot tuners?I'm still new to this Tbird thing, but I'm really loving this bass. What an amazing sound.
