It's the Cobham tune "Stratus", off his Spectrum album. Same tune- maybe with some liberties taken, but those melodic passages and phrasings are the same... here's a somewhat less wooly version:

EB is old. SG is new. Unless you mean one that doesn't look like that and has DeCola pickups. Then that is an EB only new. This is not helping. Sorry.

...then there's the new new EB that looks like the old Tobias. And don't forget the really old EB that looked like a violin bass but that was before it took on the shape of the not so new EB that is now called an SG. Except the SG is a short scale and the EB was a 34" scale, well at least some of them.

All that considered, the Gibson/Epiphone company is light years ahead of Fender when it comes to brand equity. For giggles, just try to define a Fender P bass.

I feel your pain. My wife backed into my car, backed into the closed garage door, and totaled her car. She was rewarded with a brand new car and I was still driving the 2009 Hyundai she backed into. I told her that I should be driving the new car based on her history. Surprising that she didn't agree.

I remember when the Camaro programs came through die engineering here at GM. I got the bodyside panels for the coupe and my buddy Artie got the convertible. He retired before we wrapped it up and I got to finish the convertible as well.

Seems like ancient history now but it was an exciting time at GM bringing the Camaro back!

I think we are discussing different songs. The second song is Stratus. But, he opens with Pull It from the Loud Hailer album (which I erroneously recalled being on Guitar Shop Yesterday). Mystery solved.

For me, defining a Fender P bass is easy: something I don't want.

Hey again Bird People! So, quite a few pages back I mentioned my foray into 'Birds by grabbing the cheapest Epi I could find, and it was suggested that I might want to take a look at a Pro or Vintage Pro. I went ahead and scored a cheap Pro (the passive one with Gibson pups), and wow! I can't wait to take this one to practice.

I drove by the practice space earlier today to give it a test run through my rig, and the difference was huge. So much more body to every note, and it came with a case! It's tempting me to rethink my current lineup of basses

Thanks again for your advice! I still have a 2017 EB bass on the way (I got one, but the bridge pup was kaput), and I can't imagine keeping it over the TB. It might be a bit more versatile, but that's not really what I'm looking for anyway. Plus, I just feel cooler with the 'Bird, so now more people than my wife will think the same. That's what really matters

Ok. The US V8s used here from about 1960-80 as an era, from memory.

Chrysler in Valiant (a brand rather than just a model here): 318, 340 & 360. I seem to recall there maybe a smaller one used in the early ones... a 287 maybe?
They also sold a Dodge Phoenix most of the 60s - don’t know what engine.

International had a big van/truck that looked a twin to the equiv Dodge, plus the Scout.

Rambler & Jeep Wagoneer ? had V8s and Oz assembly.. I cant speak with any authority but the engine sizes seemed to match the Chrysler V8s. Maybe a dodgy memory there.

Ford Falcon - 289, 302 & 351. Then back to a new 302.
They also sold a Galaxie and Galaxie LTD for a while, I think it may have had a bigger V8.

Holden - 307, 327 & 350 Chevy plus 253, 308, 304 & 350 stroker Holden V8s.
GM-Holden made Holden’s at one time or another were exported to every Continent (except Antartica) under various badges... Holden, Vauxhall, Chev, Buick, Daewoo & Pontiac... even a mid 70s Mazda Roadpacer used a Holden body with a Mazda Rotary, Isuzu rebadged a circa 1971-4 Holden Statesman.

Holden assembled Chevy BelAir & Impalas; and Pontiac Laurentian & Parisienne. Both from GM Canada kits... so they had 327 then 350 Chev engines... yes even the Pontiacs.

Going back before the Holden car took off, Holden built or built bodies for, Aust sale Chev, Pontiac, Buick, Olds, Vauxhall including utes for Chev & Pontiac. Also Chev, GMC, Maple Leaf & Bedford trucks.

I miss my 62’ Falcon it was one of the best cars I’ve owned.

I like Precisions. I like 'Birds. I built a P-Bird to have both at the same time. It is all about inclusion, y'know.
