If you are using them in your music room, there is no point in expensive cables. They work or they don't. They are not going to take stage and handling abuse as much in a music room, so no need for supe flexible thick tough insulation. The connectors connect or they don't. Fancy is just expensive.

Or wireless. That is a lot more expensive but you don't trip over it. You don't have to coil it up, either. That is an added bonus.

My instructor swears by Mogami Gold. I swore when I saw the price.

My wife and I will be going to LA to see the kid play a double bill at Teragram Ballroom. He will be playing with both bands, Mestizo Beat and Orgone. That will be a lot of funk in one night, especially for a trumpet player. We are pretty excited about being his groupies.

The auto-speller is a pain. Funny, but a pain.

I mentioned this in your other thread as well but can't hurt to share it here. The control cavity of the BlackBird is identical to any current Gibson Bird. You can add additional controls if you desire. I believe our Queen modified the one she owned to have 3 controls. Regardless of the pickups you ultimately use you can add controls to the BlackBird, you just have to add holes.

Thanks all for thoughts on cables.

I have considered wireless (and continue to do so). At current prices I am hesitant - L&M tells me that the very inexpensive ones have latency and frequency response challenges - at some point price and performance will likely line up for me.

It sounds like the hive mind here echoes my thoughts on cables. Specifically that the cheapest may not be great, but there is no reason for the expensive ones either.

Rotten Kid - I actually have a Pig Hog cable saved to a cart on their website. I would say that great minds think alike, but I fear that it is fools seldom differ.

I like them, they are woven, gold plated, joints are completely shrink wrapped, good warranty, and cheap.

I bought a used Line 6 G30 on EBay for $130. And then a
Levy’s pouch for the strap for another 20ish at L&M.

You know how sometimes you consider something for a long time and when you finally get it, you wish you would have done so years ago? This is one of those things.

For cords, get something with Neutrik plugs. They last a long time. I use these (and their mic cables) and have had no issues:
NGP Tour Series Instrument Cables - Right Angle
As a bonus they are a Canadian company, eh.
