The blackbird has no existing place for tone controls....does this not also help one decide against active pickups....? I would get more output from them but it terms of their dynamic extremes would I even benefit...? On off switch to neck/bridge? Or both pick ups on with a tone control? Emg35hz or emg35dc. The guy I used the dc said he could never get the tone he was looking for...said they were very clear...same blackbird...same limited controls

The US standard (can't recall if is SAE or others) is HP at the wheels IIRC. It was a move to curb the HP inflation of the 60s when manufacturers would measure HP at the flywheel (with out accessories etc.) and perhaps even lie about that. When the change was implemented, HP suddenly dropped by 50-75%.
I often resort to consulting lawyers. But, like all things, the quality of information you get is dependant upon the quality of the question(s) asked.

The music room in the basement, although not complete , is functional. And now, the 10' 7ender cable I was using, which was just long enough, is no longer long enough. I'm thinking that 15' would be adequate, but for future-proofing, probably 20-25' is about right. While I understand the current value of copper, I see no reason to pay a lot for a cable. On the other side, you often get what you pay for. So there is probably an optimization to be done. My thought is that the plugs and soldering are the best place to make improvements.
