I've recently been tempted to 'thin out the flock' and sell my Pro IV. I got it a year after I started playing, didn't like the sound at all, strung flats per this group's recommendation and ended up digging the ultra warm tone. Alas, I still never played it b/c I prefer a brighter sound.
Anyway, last week I put rounds on it, took it to practice and decided I'd let it have its chance to either fly, or fall. Of course, instead of not liking it I actually really liked how it sat, cut, etc. And the band did not help either - they too liked it's sound.
So. Now.

Has anyone in the greater Seattle area actually put eyeballs on this [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]? I would love to get a birth year bass, but I probably can't bring myself to spend 10k even if it reasonable for the market.

Naw I’ll keep the bird... soapboxes are cheap and music is better than any soap box but thanks this has been quite helpful. I’m starting to see which members I might really like above and beyond bass talk... as well as how much time I’m wasting.
I used to waste a lot of time on taborama when I was between 17 and 20.... thank god it was shut down. I never would have escaped. It helped me refine my own thoughts and oversights. It’s important to speak your thoughts out loud so that they may be challenged. Just have to find somewhere else....
PillO speaks of some secret shadow only paid members have access to. Can we not start something for the rest of us?
I wouldn't go out of your way. I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a bass. I will eventually head over the mountains and can take a look myself. It isn't likely to go anywhere.

I’m sure you could get a lot more for a kidney if you wanted a few more basses... I know a guy that can broker a deal tooIf I can get 10K for a kidney, she's mine!

Lol ***. Where’d you get that name? I don’t have face book or twitter or Instagram or a blog... not interested. I only showed up here because I put up a Wanted ad for a ampeg Dan Armstrong Amb1.... then I needed help hooking up my bass rig.... jimmy was helpful for that because it was Ampeg... then I posted the Nikki Sixx Blackbird and I’ve been stuck here...
I guess it’s just partly because it’s the only place and only time I spend on line.... Was on the Marshall forum but that was just for technical stuff for the guitar amps....those guys are way more wild than this place but for some reason I stuck around here.

The guy demoing it is enthusiastic but falls short a couple times in describing T-birds. Said in '65 it went to non-reverse... and then made it sound like the II and IV had the neck pu in different locations (?) describing the difference in sound. If he owned Bi-Centenial RI's (as he said he did) they sounded different because of the sidewinder pu's as the pu positioning was the same. Oh well - devil's in the details...

Not to mention: wrong knobs, wrong case, wrong trussrod cover, worn logo. Has no clue how different the bodies are between a 60s Reverse and a Bicentennial which weighs about a pound more. Also manages to get crap tone out of a II-no mean feat.
Asking $2k more than I paid total for my two unbroken '64s less than a decade ago. No thanks.
I'm not quite sure what you're asking, or why. Honestly, when I see big political monologues from people about whom I know next to nothing, I just move on. There's a constant barrage of words, information, data, images, and more; none of us have time for all of it. TB:TC being what it is, I come here for two things: Thunderbird talk and relaxing with cool people. I get plenty of chances to do the heavy thinking, discussions, etc. elsewhere.
I've learned the hard way (through various circumstances, including software screwing up at the worst time, like just before I hit send) to write and edit such things in a text editor, and then paste them into the browser (forums, blogs, deep FB comments, whatever). Just an idea.
I too like this. And it isn't the same as a passive Thunderbird, but it is still good.

and that is why I like mine.
Here is an interesting video - caution, no Thunderbird content - but it is cool to see the Leo Fender progression, played by the same guy, through the same amp. To me it is the clear indication that humbuckers>split pickup>single coil pickup.
Wish he would have played same riff the whole way.
