It’s actually a Japanese made neck thru. Factory trem bridge too.

We got married in ‘84 in LA and spent the next six weeks exploring the coast up to BC, crossed the mountains into Calgary and drove down to the parks in Wyoming and Montana. Go West young man. It’s amazing.

That's probably my second-favorite SH bass. My first would be Phil Lesh's old Guild/Alembic Starfire, but the odds of getting one do not seem to be ever in my favor. SO I may eventually get a Jack Casady.
Speaking of which, I just found out that Marty Balin died back in September. Crap.

Been hearing this for a while... don't worry, I have no plans to leave the Bay Area - nothing would compare to it. When I moved to the Bay Area in 1990 from the mid-west, there were all these "California Native" bumper stickers. Don't see them anymore. Over population is the cause, not Californians or anyone in particular for that matter.

Per recent talk about Goths, I have been drooling over them for a few years now. In looking at the availability on Sweetwater it appears that the fretboards are not being dyed as dark as they used to. Subjective, but to me the light rosewood just doesn’t at all go with the black matte finish. I called Sweetwater about it and they said they believe the fretboard is still Rosewood, but that it’s a cheaper varietal. Bottom right bird if I had to choose, but that one is still too light IMO.

Keep your eyes on the used market. Should be some around Atlanta.

Tha State of California knows lots of things. Californians themselves don't seem to care what the state knows. My son is in LA so I am happy that it continues to exist. He has a Thunderbird. There is another decent reason.

The Epi Goth basses must have been subbed to a few different makers/producers over time as they can be very different one-to-the-other. Especially the necks/hs's. Some are thin, some are thick, and the hs bevel is done slightly different. The bodies are solid mahogany and some are heavier than others. The riser center front&back are add-ons, but still mahogany.
