Indeed! I've already tried Dunlop Super brights, and am now on EB Cobalts!

Ive got D'addarrio Half Rounds on my IV Pro. Brightness is between the steels and flats, i think its awesome.

I've been on the 55-110 D'addario Stainless Super Brights for a while now. They're not massively expensive and really have that "angry piano" grind I like. And they feel pretty good on the fingers. The right balance of slidy and traction.

This isn't for anytime soon, but i think i may revamp my goth bird to an extent of repaint (something other than solid black - maybe a red burst?) & really filling up any visible damage from the past (although battle scars are cool, if ever i were to sell it, it'd be great to have her looking new)

So I've stopped in and played this at the local GC for some weeks. I watched the price drop over time to $999.97 on clearence. I asked them to have the tech do a few tweaks and played it for awhile today. I just couldn't resist. The neck is perfect. It suits my small hand. The action is low with no buzzing. The fret work is super smooth. The new for this year bridge is solid (Babicz). And the tone is incredible. Sometimes it's good to just go for it.

More Mid Punch, Less 'Piano-eey' than the full scale. Not muddy at all, that was my big concern. So light it flew off the strap a few times when I was jumping around, so gonna have to fix that with some strap locks. The octaves hit hard, that was one weakness of my full size 2007 zebra bird (that died of a broken neck this time last year. I'm still in mourning.) My Greco 1-banger is great, but very heavy for those all night gigs. I have been playing keyboards in a very busy, very pro band, so when I do get to play bass with the other band, it's a joy!

Go suggestion, but i think i'm over having a fully black bass. All my basses are black to begin with (except for one white one), + the inner headstock is red so wanna do something similar to it. Speaking of the headstock, i have to route a bit more length into the truss rod channel so i can get an allen key with ease. I'm probably gonna do a mock up of the goth bird design & see how it can look in many forms of paint schemes.

It seems a bit uncertain what Gibson will do with basses for 2016, maybe the winter NAMM show will bring some solid news. The 2015 version could become very collectable!
