So I've stopped in and played this at the local GC for some weeks. I watched the price drop over time to $999.97 on clearance. I asked them to have the tech do a few tweaks and played it for awhile today. I just couldn't resist. The neck is perfect. It suits my small hand. The action is low with no buzzing. The fret work is super smooth. The new for this year bridge is solid (Babicz). And the tone is incredible. Sometimes it's good to just go for it.

Very nice! No brainer at that price!
Thanks. That's what I thought. I've had enough "regrets" when it comes to basses. When I found what for me was the perfect feeling neck, I just had to do it. They also had a 2014 for $100.00 more that didn't feel nearly as good to me. Both were on the wall up high and had no marks on them. I love it.

Nicely bought! I have the same Babicz bridge on my 2015 SG bass and like it a lot. I hope it, and the whole instrument bring you years of fun. Just a quick question -- do you know anything about the pickups? Are they the same ones used on the EB bass? And either way, do they sound "Thunderbird-y"?

Fantastic buy! Very nice looking and a great price. Now get on over to the Talk Bass Thunderbird club and join the fun there. That large group of TBird owners can give you all the tips and tricks to get the most out of your bass!

Hi Mr. Atomic:
I'm assuming the pickups are the same as what is in the EB bass with switches instead of pull pots to activate the coil taps. I'm not a TBird expert by any means, but the bass sounds sounds "Thunderbird-y" to me. Particularly with the switches set to tap and the volume up.

Nice snag. Thunderbird shape always reminds me of classic '70's rock. I'm talking true hair farmers with low rider bell-bottoms, and a fringe leather vest. The case should smell like cheap weed, Boone' s Farm Strawberry Hill wine and Lemon Up shampoo. That bass should be playing Bad Company songs from memory. Cool.
Isn't it amazing we survived our high school years? I haven't thought of Boone's Farm in like 40 years.
