Yes. The line up is pretty settled. For some unfathomable reason, both singer and drummer seem to think I have some form of talent and are keen to stickup with me.

No one seems inclined to have a go at me for 1. playing Thunderbirds, 2. using roundwound strings, 3. playing with a pick, 4. using a tuner pedal.

Wait, I do all of those things...you telling me I could get fired for it?!

Yeah, I think those clip-ons look ridiculous. Like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.

I could see using one before the show starts, then putting it away. I use fairly heavy strings, so tuning up right at the start does the trick for the entire gig as a rule. I don’t have a clip on though. Never thought to get one. Leaving em on a bass headstock just looks too silly to me

At least you don’t play with one of those clip on tuners. I don’t know why, but they bother me. That and capos.

I don’t like unclipped strings waving around either. Don’t know why, should really be nothing to me.

With my Dark Tort accessorized Fender Pbass, cargo shorts, socks and sandals, well, the clipon really puts the top button on the look, don't you know! Right sick.

Lately I've been playing with a couple of people and I'm feeling pretty hopeful that it will become something. It's a husband and wife I've known since the 90s. She plays bass and he plays guitar, and both sing. She's been wanting to trouble to two-bass thing for a while and recently I got aggressive about getting something going, since I've had nothing hopeful. It's been really fun so far. She plays a Fender Mustang. We seem to compliment each other well. It's possible the two basses being so sonically different is one thing, but we also seem to go to different places with our playing, so that may just naturally work for us. But back your comment, he was really excited when I first got the Thunderbird. He's got a Les Paul, but these days seems to favor his Strat. We have a drummer they know coming in soon, and probably another guitarist. Could be a fun little community growing.

Plus, the way a neck looks with no markers at all is great, especially if it's a darker wood. Side dots are all I ever really need, since that's all I can see while playing. I never understood what the markers on the front were really for.

The only thing I could figure was for when you're sitting down and learning; thats about the only time you can see 'em.

Just like some other items, I'd rather have it and not need it. Most of our gigs are in spaces where leaving it on the amp or, worse yet, in the duffel would require taking a break to tune. And in south Florida's humidity and the establishments' AC, things go out PDQ. And I've said elsewhere on TB that most ppl in the audience wouldn't have a clue wuttinahell it is. But, 'tweetchie zone'.

They may say they are singers, but have they ACTUALLY been in a band?

Some had, but I can guess what kind of bandmate they were. We don't have to have a singer; right now its more of a wish list item. Be nice if somebody would at least follow through on an audition before deciding it wasn't a good fit. Everything on the stage can be learned, so being in previous bands is less important. We just can't even get to that stage. LOL!

We've had a couple of job candidates do that where I work. Sorry; I really don't get that mindset at all.

I work in HR. The number of people who will agree to an interview appointment and then not show up is really ridiculous.

Non-instrument playing singers obviously have too much time on their hands. Never had time for drinking while playing.
