Ok everyone. I just ordered the Vintage Pro in ebony. Please! Tell me the pickups are clearer than my other Epi's. I love the aesthetics. Love the neck but wish that the E string was a little clearer. I'm doing classic rock, Motown type stuff.

Pretty sure the consensus around here is that it is.

I’m confident this did not come from the travel case - no zipper and/or anything else remotely similar. I figured I’d better remove it before it had the chance to do some damage.

Wenge has a wonderful texture, too. That's my opinion. If the exchange rate, shipping, and import duties don't kill you, then that's an outstanding way to go.

I had a wenge/ebony made for one of my basses - very nice but on the heavy side.

FTR, I'm working on two basses - one with an Epi Goth (maple/rosewood) and one with an AllParts Fender Authorized J neck (maple/ebony). The Goth neck weighs 2 lbs, the J weighs 1 lb/13oz. Only a few ounces but less. So the wenge/ebony weight is primarily from the wenge, and wenge/wenge would probably weigh more than wenge/ebony.

Plus, the way a neck looks with no markers at all is great, especially if it's a darker wood. Side dots are all I ever really need, since that's all I can see while playing. I never understood what the markers on the front were really for.

That looks like it would be a whole lot of fun to play. I haven't played an 8 string like that, although I have thought about it.

I only had my JC a year or less, but I remember trying rounds, flats and tapes on it. They all worked great. Tough to make that bass sound bad. I only sold it because I had a bunch of hollowbodies at the time, but mostly play solidbodies live. Now I have two hollowbodies. My Gretsch Spectrasonic and the Hofner. I’ll be ok

One of my all time favorite albums....BANGIN' drum part on that track....
"Moonlight in Glory" has some interesting bass effects....the whole record kicks butt!..

I use mine in my cover band all the time.

I would have expected, being near Music City, that my band would be able to find a singer. There are apparently tons of them in town...but none have ever shown up for the audition. We've been in contact with 22 of them. Only two have said "I can't do it". About a dozen of those we scheduled an audition for. NOT ONE of them showed up. Only one cancelled and rescheduled...and then he flaked on HIS preferred reschedule date.

Musicians suck.

They may say they are singers, but have they ACTUALLY been in a band?

Two words - Brian Eno. I have a documentary on him and it's amazing what he accomplished in the 5 years it covers between Roxy Music and his ambient series. It's like he never slept. David Bowie was like that too.
