To be fair, speaker tech and cab design has come a long way in the past 20 years. There are several modern 212’s that have way more power handling and wider frequency range than any 412 from 20 years ago. There certainly is something to the way multiple drivers sound and feel though. Both ‘good’ and ‘bad,’ depending on how you want to look at it.
To your point though, if one really feels they need four 12” speakers, I’m not aware of anything that touches the Berg. Also agreed there are very few examples of that config these days. Kinda weird

Agreed. Not sure why there's so few these days.

I've loved every 12" cab I've ever played, just never found a bad sounding one. Can't say that about 15" or 10" equipped cabs, found plenty of those I didn't like. I did have an Aguilar GS412 cab for a couple of years and really liked it. AB'd it with a Berg NV610 and kept the Berg. It was a little tighter and less woolly sounding.

Then I got a chance to try my Berg 610 along side a Berg 412 and a Berg 215. All three are fantastic sounding cabs but the 610 seemed to work slightly better with my SVT-VR head for the classic rock music I was playing at the time. In hindsight, the 412 would have been a better choice as it sounded much better in Prog, Reggae, Club dub, Alternative and the heavy rock that I eventually broadened out to play.

I really don't have any Rig related GAS right now. My Berg 610 and SVT rig hasn't even been turned on in the last six years. Just don't have any need for that much oomph these days. My Berg HT322 meets all my needs and it has a twelve in addition to two tens and a horn.

If I had a need for a big dream rig it would be twin Berg NV412 cabs connected to either a Carvin B1500 or a Thunderfunk TFB-750 head. Yummmm.

Honestly, I'd be happy with another SVT212AV (but have no need). Yorkville say the YBA-200 will drive a 2Ω load without making the majick smoke. I'd be interested to try the Mesa 412. Berg are too exotic for these whereabouts.

@dukeorock Mark was right about speaker technology too. 412s used to be rated for 100W-200W, the 212AV is rated at 300W RMS per driver. and 99dB efficiency -- it's damned loud.

If memory serves, Daisley on the record (Trujillo on the re-release so that Sharon could avoid paying Bob) and Sarzo on the tour.

I actually saw them on the Madman tour. Ozzy looked and moved like an old man even then!

My second or third big (Arena) concert. I loved it, but in hindsight you are correct; Ozzy has been moving like an old man since the 80s. Since the reality TV show, the Parkinson's disease and accompanying dementia have been very evident.

I read in Ken Scott’s autobiography that Frank was perpetually pissed that all his discoveries would get poached from him. Ken was producing Missing Persons at the time. Every member of Missing Persons had been in Zappa’s band at one time. In the book, Zappa comes off as half joking, but you could tell it bugged him

Pay people what they are worth and they won't get poached... Someone else is offering something they aren't getting so they move.

I am on the build, operate, transfer business model - build the company, run it until someone buys it. Some see it as a failure when your company is bought. I look at it as someone/company putting a greater value on my company than my current investors/me, so it is a win/success.

I seem to remember Ozzy saying he does not have Parkinson’s. They recently figured out it’s some other disorder that is more controllable. He’s actually still on TV:
