1) So what did you listen to?

2) if you didn't listen to hair metal are you aware of the band Faster Pussycat? a Hair metal band. oh and BTW a Bird player on bass.

Faster Pussycat Kill Kill is the name of a Russ Meyer film (and clothing shop not far from where I'm sitting now). I watched the MC biopic and realised I have actually heard MC previously on passing radios/car stereos, but been unaware it was them. Anyway, that's enough hair metal for this cat's lifetime.

I'll leave it for those who appreciate it.

I don't expect everyone to like what I'm doing.

Suggested to my guitarist she might like a Firebird. She shut that down pretty quickly!

Les Pauls only. Prefereably an LP custom. We'd better get on and make some money.

An LP Custom will suit the gig just fine me thinks.

the essence of the SR tone....great track....when my Bicentennial got stolen (about 15 years ago..) I went into PMT music in Birmingham UK and saw a used Ray that looked exactly like this one.....my wife (feeling my pain over the stolen Bird) said "I don't wanna see you come out of that store without that bass!" so I bought it for 740 quid (cool wife). Never again did I see one with that finish and a clear guard....

Well I called them 'hair metal' and others may call them 'glam metal', but really those two genre names are referring to a variety of hard rock (or even heavy pop) not metal.

Indeed. Most 'hair metal' or 'glam metal' was pop music with crunchy guitars.

I agree, anything that would croak would most likely be in the power amp....was thinking maybe they used different effects (fuzz) levels and wanted to go back and forth? not familiar with 360s so don't know much about the effects functionality in them..

There is a footswitch that lets you switch the fuzz cricuit on and off. I am at a loss to know why anybody would need two 360s. Two 361s or more is insane, but perfectly reasonable once you get past the hearing damage insanity part.

Heres a video of Aerosmith in 1976, Tom Hamilton on an early 60's bird. I love Areosmith from this period. It's like watching speeding train about to go off the tracks. Pure rock and roll magic. It's stuff like this that made me want to be in a band.

Here's a true story about me meeting Tom Hamilton as a kid.

I was lucky enough at 15 to meet the band minus Joe Perry. Jimmy Crespo was Joe's stand-in at the time. I knew a girl that had tickets and back stage passes to see them at a smaller venue in NY. She was totally not my type. She asked me to be her date for the show. She said I had to make out with her during Dream On. I took one for the team and went. It was one of the coolest nights of my teen life. The show was amazing. Oddly Anvil was the opening act and they were insane. Lol.

Back stage after the show we waited for the band to come out. Tom Hamilton and Jimmy Crespo were the first to come out and greet people. Everyone sort of ignored them. I walked up and shook their hands and told Tom I was a bass player too. He chuckled and we talked for a few minutes. Being 15 and ballsy I asked him if he could show me bass line to Sweet Emotion because I didn't think I was playing it right. He looked at me incredulously than said to give him minute. He returned with a white Stingray and sat down and showed me the line. Then he handed me the bass and told me to give it a try. He coached me a bit until I got it right. Then the back door opened and Dee Snider and Mark Mendoza walked through the door. Dee walked over and shook Tom's hand and then asked me if I could give Mark a lesson after I was through teaching Tom. It was absolutely surreal for me. I handed the bass back and we mingled with rock stars for an hour. I'll never forget that night and how gracious Tom was. Everyone was there was very cool to the two star struck kids. I still have the autographed pass somewhere.

I'll just say this. Dave Allison's guitar (Anvil) got more action than I got that night. He used a vibrating "massager" as a slide during his solo. They were a trip.

Kind of how "Country" today is pop music with a twang. A friend that likes the cheesiest Hair Metal is also into "New Country". I told him he is just a fan of pop music with sprinkles.

keep in mind loads of those guys that became "Guitar God" shredders a la Yngwie Malmsteen/Randy Rhoads were left without a job when Kurt Cobain showed up (knew a few people on the verge of being signed at the time) so many who were very accomplished pickers went into the Country arena....

I'm with your Guitarist! I'd take an LP Gold Top loaded with cream P90s over a Firebird any day....

...I have one and I'd sell many of my basses before I'd off the LP Ultra II. To me, it's the Eppi TBird VP of the guitar world from a bang for the buck standpoint.
