Thunderbird Club

Ok I'm at the local GC, found this. Neck-thru, made in Indonesia.

Selling price is $249. The pickups and neck-thru thing, and the headstock detail looks like a better-than-base model. Feels pretty good too. I'm about to walk out with it.

Why wouldn’t you?!

What was made in Indonesia? This is a curiosity... the squarish cut at the heel of the neck transition, the carved/relief at the face of the headstock... can't get pix posted, a little frustrating, but I'm buying it. Seems a nice deal I just blundered into.

I'll figure it out later, and if it turns out to be a dog I've got 30 days to deal...

Just walked out of GC with a Thunderbird, may have been a steal. Not sure what it is...

Can anyone tell me about this? Feels nicer than your entry level, bolt-on Bird. Lightweight, nice player. Sounds good not plugged in- lol, I haven't even plugged it in!

It’s a solid rig. I have 2 of them.
Don’t think you’ll be disappointed. But curious to hear your thoughts once you’ve had some time with it.

Cool, thanks you guys! I went back in to plug it in, sounds like it'll be ok! Didn't expect this at all... I had to go to Trader Joe's to pick up their non-clay, non-dusty kitty litter, and of course GC was on the way. Pulled in for a mere perusal/lark/waste of a few minutes... utterly had no intention. I'd already bailed on the other two.

Thanks again for the enabl-- I mean support!!

And now home, to put something on Craigslist... :)

Will, will be along to explain how that all works. But essentially, you got chosen.

Personally I'd hold out for a VP, but it's hard to beat the Goth as a mod platform. GC has used ones at low prices all the time.

I almost went for this one.
Epiphone Non-Reverse Thunderbird V 1995 Surf Green
Unique on several fronts - NR shape, interesting Color, Five strings. I only held off because I want an NR that I can easily get to near VP spec and this one would have required too much work routing for five string Humbucker pups not to mention the cost of the pups (which I guess would have to be Lull or Lollar for a five string). But if you plan on keeping it stock it might be a neat addition to the family with a different look and sound.

Yeah, that is nice. I suppose the 5 string does make it different. I’d prob use it as a P5 and ignore the J.
