Thunderbird Club

Yeah, that is nice. I suppose the 5 string does make it different. I’d prob use it as a P5 and ignore the J.

If you've never played a five string precision you're in for a treat. Low B on a split P pup with Cobalt Flats is earth moving. Besides, you get a really cool full scale Thumb rest to boot.

If I didn't already have a 5 string custom made P/MM equipped bass I'd be all over that Eppi NR.

Rad show last night. The 5 Spot is a cool place to play. I had a tough time because I spent as much time sniffling as I did breathing. Turns out just over 30 minutes was just about my limit. Still, I had a blast and my bandmates are amazing.

Thank you guys for your well wishes and stuff!
Nice. Feel better man, but nice!

Ok I'm at the local GC, found this. Neck-thru, made in Indonesia.

Selling price is $249. The pickups and neck-thru thing, and the headstock detail looks like a better-than-base model. Feels pretty good too. I'm about to walk out with it.

What was made in Indonesia? This is a curiosity... the squarish cut at the heel of the neck transition, the carved/relief at the face of the headstock... can't get pix posted, a little frustrating, but I'm buying it. Seems a nice deal I just blundered into.

I'll figure it out later, and if it turns out to be a dog I've got 30 days to deal...

Just walked out of GC with a Thunderbird, may have been a steal. Not sure what it is...

Can anyone tell me about this? Feels nicer than your entry level, bolt-on Bird. Lightweight, nice player. Sounds good not plugged in- lol, I haven't even plugged it in!
Classic Pro. Score!

Just got the Classic Pro, don't know if I can handle two birds in one fell stroke... also I'm now close to busted!

Yep, I’m on delay. I hadn’t seen the Classic Pro discovery when I posted that earlier.

That's what I do with mine. The J(or superfluous)pup might as well not be there.[it's sort of a 5 string EpiBird II-to me]View attachment 3371008

I’ll file this concept into the back of my brain for another time. Not going to deal with international post for this.

I don’t think I noticed that these were reverse P previously.

Not to keep going on about it, I realize there are other people, all with their own meaningful concerns and desires, other important parts of life, it's a big boat we're all in. But I just want to say THAT I REALLY LOVE MY NEW THUNDERBIRD!!! Excellent player, very comfortable to play standing up and strapped on (Ahem), and it looks just cool.
Ok, I guess that's it for now. Gonna get it through my own amp today... more later, I'm sure.
Now I'm looking for a case or a gig bag...

Swan necks cry out for hard shell cases.

Cases are where we as Birdists get ripped off. They are almost never on any meaningful discounted sale and the build quality just isn't equal to the price. I found mine on some no name website that had been damaged in shipping and was $45 after shipping. After getting it and seeing how relatively flimsy these Chinese made cases are, I thought they should all be $45.

Point taken.

I'm perfectly happy carrying my J and P (soon to be J) necked basses in the gig bag if required. The other one is always left in its case or on a stand. Doesn't even have to be your own carelessness -- it could be someone else who accidentally breaks your heart.
