and watching other critters eating them..My theory on raw oysters is that it wasn't bravery at all... most likely starvation and an inability to get a fire going.![]()

What kind of crab is that?
My Dad theorised that the bravest man in history was the first one who looked at an oyster and said"that looks good".
Ahem?
Have you seen Jackass? There are a lot of things that make me wonder like that. Smoking. There must have been a cave man sometime or another who thought, "let's see, if I put this in my mouth and light it on fire, it's a good idea." There's a leap of logic there which only a human could come up with. It is not like raw oysters, either, which maybe starvation would lead to.

Atlantic Blue Crab, way tastier than Dungeness IMO. We used to bring them in by the bucket load when growing up in FloridaView attachment 3374264 View attachment 3374265
Before steaming they show shades of blue on the claws and fins

not to one up, but this is better, IMO....more work (less meat) but much sweeter tasting..I Like Dungeness a lot, but Alaska King is really my fave, it's kinda spendy but worth it!

With my daughter being allergic to all fish/shellfish, it's just easier for me to not have a taste for seafood. It isn't so much the sweetness for me, but I'd love to try that crab, just can't get it here unless it's air freighted in (which won't make it cheaper!). There is an Alaskan Blue Crab as well, which I stand a bit better chance of finding.
does she live at home? With my daughter being allergic to all fish/shellfish, it's just easier for me to not have a taste for seafood.

No, but I visit in the Orlando area as much as possible. I was never a big seafood fan to begin with so it's no real sacrifice. Full disclosure: I will eat a Mickey D filet-when they're on sale.does she live at home?
Yeah, growing up in Miami, there was a restaurant* my oldies liked that had an outstanding Deviled Crab. Loved that. Having gotten out of eating sea critters, I don't wanna pay for something I'm not gonna like. Or, worse yet, finding something expensive that I do like. You owe it to yourself to give it a try - That Blue Crab looks great!
