Thunderbird Club

Hey guys, I find myself in San Francisco any must hit music stores?
In the 60s, many went to San Francisco to find themselves...

If you are up for raw fish, I recommend taking the ferry to Sausalito and walking to Sushi Ran. For cooked fish, I like Lou's Fish Shack.

Sorry - not music, but fits the seafood discussions and SF is a great place for seafood.

Thanks Cataldo, that's a little too far to Lyft. We are in the Mission district of San Francisco, we are tied pretty tight to the Airbnb we are staying at, our son is recovering from surgery so no sight seeing for us.
Thanks, I had checked them out online, if I get a chance I'll catch a ride over.

Hope your son is doing well.

One of the things I love about SF is that the city is small - 7mi x 7mi - and it makes anywhere in the city walkable (for me at least).

Another funny:

Thanks, he seems to be doing well, I fly back tomorrow my wife and son Tuesday. We are staying in a super Airbnb and using Lyft to get around. Much better than a hotel or car rental .

Lol!! what does people finding themselves have to do with Lou's Fish Shack?...

Welcome to the Bay Area - hope your sons surgery goes well

I tried these DR strings on mine.
Looked good but the tone was nothing to get excited about...felt pretty bad, too.
The Aurora colored strings feel and sound much better.

It depends on the bass (or maybe I should say base just to be up to date around here). I put DR Red Devils on my 7enderbird and they sound great. It is really a Precision in all but shape, which is very different from a Goth.

Full day today, good and bad. Spent most of the day doing rough mixes for the Mike Lynch tracks I recorded Sunday and Monday. The Glyn Johns drum mic techniques plus a snare mic is a really beatiful thing.

Went to my weekly gig with Derek Hoke. Someone told me Rob Crowell has left something for me to look at. Rob Crowell is a remarkable musician who plays, sax, keyboards, bass and drums at the highest level. He does stadium gigs on every instrument. Dude’s a freak of nature. What he left for me to try out was a Greco T Bird. He knows we both love T Birds, but he has an odd fetish for Japanese knock offs and he wanted to see what I thought of Greco’s. I wound up playing it for my gig and it was absolutely fantastic! Huge sounding with a great bark in the mids. I’d buy one in a heartbeat knowing what I now know. He told me to hang onto it for a week...twist my arm :)
On a much sadder note, my dear friend, mentor and former bandmate, Rick Elias, passed away earlier this evening. Still attempting how to process such a loss. The world is a lot less interesting and cool right now.

I was going to like that post. Then the last paragraph came along. All the best to you and everyone else he left behind.

Heart, man. Losing friends is awful, especially in this place.

Understood, Scott. Best wishes on the surgery.
