Thunderbird Club

It was a two pickup model. Late 70’s, I think? I dunno. It’s here at the house. The owner has very old rounds on it and it still sounds awesome.

I thought eft hand models were typicically more expensive than righties?

Oh man, pics?

Agreed. Always thought lefty’s were more.

Full day today, good and bad. Spent most of the day doing rough mixes for the Mike Lynch tracks I recorded Sunday and Monday. The Glyn Johns drum mic techniques plus a snare mic is a really beatiful thing.

Went to my weekly gig with Derek Hoke. Someone told me Rob Crowell has left something for me to look at. Rob Crowell is a remarkable musician who plays, sax, keyboards, bass and drums at the highest level. He does stadium gigs on every instrument. Dude’s a freak of nature. What he left for me to try out was a Greco T Bird. He knows we both love T Birds, but he has an odd fetish for Japanese knock offs and he wanted to see what I thought of Greco’s. I wound up playing it for my gig and it was absolutely fantastic! Huge sounding with a great bark in the mids. I’d buy one in a heartbeat knowing what I now know. He told me to hang onto it for a week...twist my arm :)
On a much sadder note, my dear friend, mentor and former bandmate, Rick Elias, passed away earlier this evening. Still attempting how to process such a loss. The world is a lot less interesting and cool right now.

Sad news- sorry about the loss. Try to think of the good times

First night out for the new to me Classic Pro Bird, rehearsal. We're being "auditioned" by a sound guy. He had his first gig, as a stage hand, at Woodstock. Since then he's worked with a whole slew of major names, including 19 years touring with Joe Cocker's band.

Larry... something. He's locally known as something of a curmudgeon. I'm looking forward to working with him.
Sounds like a guy most of here would get along with well.

And?

Not good enough. Must try harder.

[disclosure:] Spent 10 minutes looking for the middle aged men and guiars thing I saw the other day. Prolly for the best it eluded me.
Do you mean 'GET off my Lawn! "Grumpy Old Farts" Club'?[says GOF 228]

No, it was something about buying a LOT of guitars. Strictly speaking I have one more bass than I need -- one I'm playing and one spare -- but it's nice to have one of each of the main flavours -- Reverse, Non-reverse and F-bird.

That's a seriously cool guy right there.

So was that guy. I didn't know him, but those I know who did thought him an awesome man. Crap. Prayers and virtual hugs, my friend. So sorry to hear this.
