That bridge cover..........weird.

Here's mine after I put a Badbird bridge on it, note the holes for the bridge cover, not on the center block.

EEErrrmmm....... It's called a Tailpiece

It might look odd to have a 3 point and a tailpiece, but it worked fine and I found it easy to re string. Scott's Badbird conversion is designed for Gibson but worked nicely with mine, the tail piece is his work, way better in profile and appearance than either a BaCH or Greco one.

Yes. It's a claw tailpiece, as opposed to a threaded tailpiece or a wraparound tailpiece or whatever.

Tell you tonight...
Played the Classic tonight at rehearsal, used the Elf into an old Crate BE 115, ohm, 140 w spkr. Definitely it's aggressive in the mids, in a way I found pleasant and musical, a very forward, aggressive sound, really what I want to hear when digging in. I'm looking forward to playing it through the big rig Friday eve: Eden D410T (4 ohm) and my 210 4 ohm cab. Both are rated in the neighborhood of 400w, and I'll be pushing them with the Acoustic 370.
So far it's tough to say too much, as I think the speaker I was using probably isn't able to do justice, but I got it for $20, just to leave in the rehearsal room. Gonna replace it with a Peavey Black Widow, it'll probably end up being a good cab.
Gig report this weekend...

Oh yeah, sound guy Larry showed up. He seems a little amused at us, I don't think we're ready for him. He's doing the gig though...

You mean he's not ready for you guy's. Ok, kidding aside. 370 pushing those 2 Eden cabs? 610's at a 2ohm load i take it. Full steam from the 370. Gotta know what that sounds like.

Had to run a bunch of errands, but as promised, here’s the Greco!

L-R Greco, Cataldo, Gibson

Close up of the Greco. Super dark finish, but I think it looks very nice. Hate the bridge cover, but then I hate all bridge covers equally :)
Pickup location is much different than a modern Gibson (is it closer to a ‘76? I’m not an expert since I can’t afford a vintage Gibson anyway). Headstock is much larger as well. Top dots on the neck are really tiny and hard to see on a dark stage.
I wish I could change the strings. These are way beyond dead, but that’s how the owner likes em. Here’s the Gibson for contrast

I would definitely love to find the right Greco at the right price. Super nice bass!
I wouldn’t worry about affording a vintage Gibson.
I’m sure someone will come along and give you one or you’ll find one in your Easter basket. :):smug::woot:.

On a more serious note, sorry about your friend. Looks like he was the real deal.

Oh, I'm pretty sure we're the ones who aren't ready, but thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm also pretty sure this isn't my band, but a couple of them are friends, and I don't want to let them down. I know. It's a little pathetic.
I need to get involved with a doom-jam acid trio who wants to write and record, go play gigs in dirty dive bars.

Yeah I'm looking forward to the new-to-me, partly, rig on Friday also. Maybe I'll have a clip.
