At 9v (I assume it is 9v), the tubes in these pedals are generally plate starved, which lends a different character to a 12A?7 running at full voltage (something north of 200V with plate dissipation around 2W). But, I think that there are pedals out there that do run at high voltage. Some like the sound of the plate starved tube and that is good too - in fact that is what sag is in a tube amp.
hmmm.....dunno, those green coupling caps look like high Voltage ones and that 8 pin DIP looks like it's clocking a switching transistor....

sure. in the 90s some manufacturers used to advertise "tube" functionality and place a tube where it could be seen from outside the enclosure but only connect the filament of the tube.... marketing at it's best..

The Thunder Knob is a new, all-tube design that runs a 12AX7 vacuum tube now at 250V to deliver lush tube tone with tons of headroom. The pedal takes a standard 9v DC power input and boosts it internally via LBA's custom low noise DC to DC voltage booster. Any standard 9v pedal adapter will work if it can output at least 350mA of current.

The groom is the bass player so they are going to get up and do a few. Love when that happens. I even found a bass for him!:bassist::laugh:...

Yes, that answers it. 250V is about full plate voltage. I am guessing that the no transistors is not quite true. Probably no transistors in the signal path... Silicon is just so useful that it is hard to get away from it.
