Thunderbird Club

I'll be picking this up this weekend. I'm gonna see if I can save it. If not, I'll reuse the parts and eventually try my hand at a Fenderbird down the road

If you were to re-attach the head stock with a hinge of some sort, it would fit in a conventional case.:smug: Seriously, good luck with it. My 67's headstock snapped completely off and the Luthier at the shop I go to re-attached it and said "It might break again but not there."(2 graphite rods)

Thanks! I'll keep the thread apprised

how long ago was that?

The post modern psychedelic prog creamy thick acid swirl sound you guys have really lends itself well to a more monotone laid back deep throated female singer. Kinda in this vein, but you guys could take it a step further...

Just a thought.

The drum sounds (rounder/less brittle, thick reverb) suit this style.

Your thumb gets tired? ;)

That is a really cool thumbrest and fits really well with the bird. My white one had a plain black plastic thumbrest installed by a previous owner. I found it got in my way so removed it. Perhaps one day I will fill the two little holes it left.
I like the way a tug bar on the treble side looks. I don't use 'em. It's a shallow thing. Visuals!

I don't know that you can "sight read" something that you have seen many times unless you have a great faculty for obliviation.

I treat sheet music like cue cards - a reminder of what needs to be played in case you forget. So, for example, the pieces I work on for lessons, I end up internalizing to some extent. I couldn't play any of them off the top of my head, but with sheet music in front of me, the cues remind me of where we are going.
I have never, ever been able to sight read. I can more or less read, but it takes me a few runthroughs to figure it out and get it. Then it's mostly memorized and back to playing by ear anyway. That's why charts are so useful and why I generally annotate using music theory as well.

I like this...…………………………….

Feeling weak, must not get in car and drive to West Seattle today:help:

Dayum! For what it's worth, my office finally moved. We have to organize a regular Emerald City Guitars visitation.

oh man, you had it all that time without a break? i would have blown a fuse..
The original crack happened around 75(?). That's when it went to a violin maker in N. Miami Beach. He grafted in a piece of mahogany with 'violin' glue. It's also when I lost the serial #. I kept playing it through 84+/- pretty regularly, alternating with my 66 EB-3. In '10 when I got with the current band(sort of), I went back to using the 'Bird exclusively. The crack was separating again, so I took it to the shop where they attempted to re-glue it. Unfortunately, the crack was deeper than we knew. It held for awhile, then one night, at home, with it sitting on a guitar stand, the headstock snapped off. I was in another room, heard a noise, and walked in to see it-next to the Kasino-hanging by the strings. I can't even describe my feeling at that moment. Start with numb and go from there. As I recall, I nearly barfed.
Anyway, it's been back in operation, stronger than ever, since 2016. I can't use it on tonight's gig-unless I wanna conk the drummer. This is the tightest spot we play. I'll try to get a pic, no promises. Ah, but tomorrow night, it's Bird time! EDIT Couldn't get a pic:sorry:. Maybe next time we're there.
