Hello all. I'm new here and for the last 2 years, I've been searching tirelessly trying to find a Hamer FBIV. I'm always too late to the party on one because they're snagged so quickly. I figured this would be the best place to get insight or maybe if someone decides to part ways with theirs I wont have to spend hours and hours searching. Thanks in advance guys!

You're welcome, but all I did, literally, was to google, "Hamer FBIV for sale". What were you searching for?

Those exact words and every other variation possible. I even went as far as just looking for generic electric bass on eBay and scrolling though dozens of pages. I guess the universe just doesn’t want me to have one

I just compared my bass to a friends firebird, flipped over so the bodies lined up. They are pretty much the same size, just the guitar body is thinner.

When I get home from work, I'll take a picture of what @kringle77 is saying so that all can see the exact difference in body sizes and I'll include size references as well so there is no guesswork

Cool. My buddies guitar was a non-reverse so, the mirror shape of a tb bass.

Definitely different body sizes - FB is smaller. There is a raised center on my FB and it is neck through.

Yeah, I can't say they've never made any that weren't that way, but every FB I have seen or touched was neck through with the raised center.

Larry, thanks for the input! Is there any way you could take some measurements comparing the ss to a regular bird? Wish I could have found a gibson ss but, they are rare. Would have been alot easier.

Quick question... are you already locked into the build you described earlier, a custom SS Spectorbird?
