this is my current lineup...I like cafetière pressed coffee as well on occasion, but my wife who's of Mexican heritage and only drinks percolated adds cinnamon, brown sugar (Don Julio on occasion) to the coffee and nothing comes close...being Italian, I grew up with espresso but darn, her coffee is way tasty..Many years ago, I decided that life is too short forcoffee. I threw out the instant coffee (except the jar of decaf; that is only around because that is what my mother wants).
I paid for the top shelf machine and when I want coffee, I can have excellent coffee. Sometimes when I am out I will have coffee (because no one can make decent tea except in England), but it isn't as good as mine except in Italy.
IIRC the rear strap button was moved up to relieve the tilting issue. I think the change in balance was just incidental. Thanks for all the strap button comments - I actually wasn't even talking about neck dive; was talking about the flipping forward along the axis of the neck, putting the back of the bass more toward the ceiling and the face of the bass toward the floor.
I did do the strap-over-the-wing thing yesterday to counter that, but the strap is even more too short when I do that =0) Definitely want a longer one to sling the bird lower, it looks ridiculous up on my chest, lol.
Current strap button placement on the neck heel is centered to the neck, directly under the 17th fret. Love to get that over to 15 for reach (all else being equal, strap at 17 on a 30" actually pushes the first position out farther than strap at 12 on a 34" by about half a fret!) but then it'd be very close to the end of the heel, so I started thinking of a post-and-button coming off the upper bout.
Leaked photo of his last attempt at using the drive-thru before GP came to that conclusion...I always went inside to get my coffee. The Freightliner wouldn't fit in the drive-thru.![]()

But do you like Coffee of the Beast?Sounds like a lot folks around here don't really love coffee. I on the other hand do. I drink it black at any temperature from lip searing hot to ice cold depending on the time of the year. I don't care if it's from Starbucks, Dunkin, McD's or the Speedway or Sunoco. Flavored coffees are for people that don't like coffee and that goes for people that use sweeteners too.
While in Hawaii, I bought 1 lbs. of 100% Kona bean on the Big Island for $75 and to be honest, it was great but no greater than the Costa Rican beans I get from Costco. I find that I can drink all coffees and rarely find one I don't like unless it was brewed too weakly.
To me, the coffee wars are silly. As long as it's fresh ground from whole bean, it's probably going to be good enough for 99% of coffee drinkers and yes I totally made up that number.
If you want to try what is widely considered to be the best coffee money can buy, here's the link.
Estate Trellis Reserve 100% Kona Coffee
Check back to see if it's in stock or give them a call and maybe they'll pull one from their store shelves and ship it to you.
Where's my coffee buddy, @marko57 for a little back up?!

Gotcha. As I recall, there was somebody who had a strap configuration that had a double strap to the the lower bout, except that one of the lower straps returned to the upper strap button. That would push the back of the bass off to the side and shorten the reach. There have been a number of different configurations that seem to work, but I don't remember all of them. Thanks for all the strap button comments - I actually wasn't even talking about neck dive; was talking about the flipping forward along the axis of the neck, putting the back of the bass more toward the ceiling and the face of the bass toward the floor.

As well it should be. Thunderbirds are their own thing, but there's no such thing as doing it wrong when playing a Thunderbird. There's no one answer/solution for T-bird players because of the many ways each player deals with playing it. Apparently slung low - no problem. I ride it at a more standard position/height but favor shifting it where the body rests against mine so I have less of a reach to 1st position. (body back) Doing this puts the belly-bevel to the lower side of my 'belly' positioning my ribs at the upper bout. I've played it for so many years like that that have a permanent sore spot on my rib. Nothing to complain about - just part of the deal playing a Thunderbird for me. On my T-bird body related builds I created a removable extension that works like a charm. Puts the upper strap button at the 12th fret. A lot of T-bird players wouldn't stand for such but that's ok with me - I love it and no-one has ever, ever made a disparaging comment seeing me rock it live.

Sinister coffee and basses...
For me, the criteria are NOT Arabica and NOT Kenyan. Otherwise I am open minded.

Look up Leon Wilkinson's post-plane crash TbirdWell, my comfort strapp isn't *long* enough to do the Bird justice so I'll have to look for an XL it seems.
Anybody know the specific ins and outs of adding a strap button on a little extender post, coming off the angled surface of the upper bout? With the button on the back of the heel, my Bird wants to face the floor.
Thanks!!
