What size Chrome flats? I'll have to double check; I *think* I'm running a set of 45-105s on the IV. I have 45-130s on the V. Neither give me any problems; in fact both are slightly lower tension that what came on those basses, requiring a slight neck relief change.

I play with and without a pick, with a wide variety of dynamics. I'm usually compressed on stage, but not always.
I'm more likely to be depressed on stage-thinking of the $-or lack thereof.

This is a funny thing on the tension. I think they aren't floppy at all, for lack of a better way to say it.
They seem, or i perceive them to have a similar tension as Cobalt flats. Which suits me just fine.

Although i have yet to try the TI rounds.
Just going by recollection of both TI strings...

TI Jazz flats have more tension (stiffer feel) than DR Silver Stars but slightly less than Cobalt flats.
TI Power Bass rounds have more tension than Cobalt flats but slightly less than D'Addario XL rounds.

I have not tried Jazz Flats on the Bird yet, but I do like that string on my other basses and would be interested to hear your take on the sound and feel when played fingerstyle.

I'm not sure i can describe my version of fingerstyle. At least the way i play. But one thing is, if you dig in a little, the TI's give you this throaty slight upper mid bump. Very full sounding, but clear.
My ears, my rig. All that blah blah taken into consideration.

We can describe it. Acid jazz. With the emphasis on acid.

Hi ThunderFriends! (is that a thing? Can it be?)

I had been looking to install a detuner on my Epi VP. Here's what I came up with:

First, I couldn't find a perfect, drop-in fit. Those Wilkinsons are weird and I can't find anything like them. I think this is as close as I can get, a Hipshot BT1. It's designed for a MM and comes in a long and short key version. This is the long.

Two of the screw holes line up perfectly (why I got it) and the other two are close so that was just a little bit of work.

Here is the end result. As you can see, it's not an exact match but pretty close in height and clover style.

All good as I was stringing up with a set of DR Lo Riders. Until... should I be worried about this? It's a 105 and will not slot in the groove in the tailpiece. I tried another 105, a GHS, and the same problem. Any worries or other ideas?
