Thunderbird Club

Oh that? That's on loan from my electronica side project. Was messing about with a freeware IOS synth -- 'Synth One'. Was finding out what I can do with it.

The electronica is a bit of a rabbit hole (be funny if my rabbit hole joined up with Mark's @dukeorock). I started out making intros and interludes -- aka 'padding' -- to get our set up to 45 minutes, triggered off the Roland pad ... but now we are talking about using it for backing tracks in songs, just to add to the overall effect*, which adds a whole new layer of complexity with click tracks etc.

Why make people dance, when you can melt their faces instead?

Melt away doll!!!

That's who I generally think about musically. She had it all going. Plus, her bass players could lay down some mean riffs. Those riffs aren't that hard to play, but they make the songs.

Quite true! But I also liked Peter Albin and Brad Campbell; they played parts that fit Janis's songs. I noticed the bass in her songs a lot more than I did in many bands. I'm not sure why. I need to listen with that question in mind.

That's a real lefty NR that Tom Peterson (in the pic) set up righty. I don't think string length will be a problem, especially on the 2013.
My 67 NR is really long. I've never had a problem with string length. And I don't use extra longs. Biggest problem I have had is with the EpiBird 5er. The "B" post is the farthest from the bridge. The string reaches, but it's very sensitive to tuning.

Well, might just be me. But i can hear these two doing something together, @dukeorock and @fasterpussycat
There have been stranger things.

Well you never know, one day we might both appear at one of those Americana and postpunk-goth-glam-metal-misery gigs they put on all the time (or maybe not).

I didn't get around to this earlier. Glenn Cornack. And, he played a Thunderbird, among other bass guitars. I don't know what he recorded this with.

I'm trying to learn to play that in the next three days. This won't be pretty.

Tull had lots of complex bass parts. At least it's not the flute part (on bass). I loved both Cornick's and Hammond's playing. I only saw Tull once, I think in 1975, with Hammond on bass. Fantastic show.

Stranger Things.

One truss rod adjusted! After researching a while, I decided to just go for it. I had 3 in 1 oil ready but didn't need it. I tapped on the hex key with a hammer, then used pliers, and it turned. I got the Epi IV neck bow where I want it. Now I Just need to contact Supertone about the intonation screw length; I can't quiiite get D and G string bridge inserts as far out as I need them for intonation. But it plays great.

I think the truss rod hole wasn't quite big enough; it looks as if the nut is actually binding against the wood.

I'm going to have to take the Pro V in, I suspect; it looks as if the previous owner butchered the truss rod adjusting nut. For sure a 4mm (5/32) hex key doesn't work. (Then again, the way the original bridge was installed, maybe it was hosed at the factory.)

I’m thinking more like Chrissy.

Like a present to unwrap ?

I saved that to Bookmark. I must have clumsily typed ‘Jethro Tull’ as it autocorrected to ‘Heathrow Still’...

 A Brit - Kentucky mashup ???

I think that Epi 5er would be happier with bridge and pickup covers

My '64 Epi Embassy is a fair amount further than the VP or the '64 or '76. Not sure what was up with that. Depending on the maker, some longs barely work.
