Thunderbird Club

I wrote Hipshot about the intonation. They're sending me shorter intonation adjustment screws. I really like this company. Good products, very responsive (multiple questions, two purchases now). And, I got this bridge from GC with a random 15% off e-coupon.
I've been very happy with the 4 bridges I bought from Hipshot (2 self install, two by the local L&M techs). The service is fantastic. They have quickly become a favourite. When I look for replacement tuners, I will be going straight to Hipshot.

I didn't get around to this earlier. Glenn Cornack. And, he played a Thunderbird, among other bass guitars. I don't know what he recorded this with.

I'm trying to learn to play that in the next three days. This won't be pretty.

Cornick was a very good bass player, the original Tull rhythm section of him and Clive Bunker were excellent and very jazzy. I used to have that whole song transcribed somewhere, did it for a project in college, though I don't know where it is any more. The solo is actually probably the easiest part, I found all the variations in the main part of the song harder to remember. Still one of my go to songs for warming up or testing an instrument. He would have used an EB-3 for the original recording. He only got his first Thunderbird around their last tour, so never got a chance to record with it, and by Wild Turkey he was on to a Non-Reverse.

Me, too.

Yeah, I might look into lighter tuners for the Eagle, depending on how I make out with strap that doesn't slide. With a crappy nylon strap I had around (my good ones have strap locks on them) the neck wanted to go right to the ground.

Learn something every day! And I agree about the solo being easier than the rest.

Whatever happens, it will not be note for note.

What's your favorite (guitar neck, ahem) nut material? My Epi IV has a plastic nut, for crying out loud, and yet it has always had tons of sustain.
Corian is relatively easy to work, and polishes nicely. I got a few sample pieces of black, white and off-white counter material and I’m set for life - unless I start building for others:woot:

OMFG!...As they say. That was a major blast from the past.
I still play that melody most times I have an acoustic guitar in my hands. Totally forgot where it came from!
That would be a fun song on bass for sure.

Getting ready for the Rolling Stones concert tonight! Planning on taking the "water taxi" from west Seattle to downtown. Going over early with Hope's of getting a table at Pyramid brewery for drinks and snacks before the show. Beautiful sunset from Alki beach last night. I hope everyone is having a good day.

That sounds awesome!
I'm having a great day. And while everyone else whines about the heat, I'm getting ready for a mid-afternoon walk.

The Orville was pretty divey, but a suede backed strap and lightweight tuners have made it perfectly balanced. It's also half a kilo lighter than my other basses.
