Thunderbird Club

I just watched this again. These guys always leave me wrung out, almost as if I had been playing. One gets the impression that if Ronnie didn't reign them in, the band would just keep playing at the frenetic pace of Freebird's last half until someone dropped dead.
A performance like this- especially of Freebird- was what started my guilty secret of wishing I could play bass. It also sealed my desire for a Thunderbird (Leon used a Gibson TB on the earlier tours rather than the custom-bodied Fenderbird seen here). Allen's antics on a Firebird didn't help.
Also, Every Mother's Son is a perfect modern country song. It just happens to be written and played by a hard rock band back in the 70s.
I really really miss this band. But they've been gone a long time.

So much to like with LS (Thunderbirds!). They just brought it and let the music do the talking. My wife gets tired of me pointing out how they were doing "modern/rock" country 40 years ago. Shoot they invented it and didn't even know it.

Ideal line up was when Ed King was still with them. Got tired of the off stage insanity. People don't tend to care for the next albums after King left, but they are some of my favorites. Great music and words that said something and made sense to those no on acid. Artemus was a great drummer. And Leon with the various Thunderbirds. What's not to like?

Apparently some people see a pool as a liability, or at least something they don't want. That means less potential buyers. Most realtors will tell you that (at least around here, and back in Atlanta).

It is the same here. There are a LOT of pools but the maintenance is a factor for home buyers so it definitely can tip the scales as to making the purchase or not.

At times I wish we had a pool but then when we have a dust storm like last night, I am glad I do not need to clean a pool.

I stand corrected, but I do think the tone had a Thunderbird vibe. Mel Schacher did something similar IIRC.

Mel did have the Mudbucker in his Jazz. He had a gnarly sound that I really enjoyed.

I like Mel's early Pbass sound. I'm not crazy about distortion--but his on some of the live recordings was killer and possibly some of the best I've heard. It fit what they were doing.

Bruce from Dark Star said it’s a Hagstrom Bi-sonic that Guild also used.
Like this....

More like its own sound - I have used the DS/BS (both Guild and Novak) pu in the P-bass location and it's neither a P-bass sound or a T-bird sound, but can hang shoulder-to-shoulder with both.
Yes, I know. Not the same kind of PUs at all. I was just getting Thunderbird in there!

Unless a quake busts the dam upriver and they’ve lied to us, saying we’re still safe if that happens, probably something I don’t have to worry about. But I’ve got a Forrester; the dogs, 4 good basses and other precious stuff should fit.
load the AMX with the 68NR, 69J, the Markbass top, 2 x 10 box and SEE YA!!

Yeah that’s it! They all have Wenge necks with steel reinforcement rods, so neck dive is a given:thumbsup: (just like a Thunderbird)
Are you still on standby to “exit stage left” at any moment?
Yup!With it moving so slowly, I gots time to see if it does what 'they' say it'll do.

Then in AZ there’s the added cost to COOL the darn thing!

I think some GFR is in order today.
