Thunderbird Club

Even better is fretless with chorus and octave!
IMO chorus or flange is a go big or go home situation. If you’re subtle with it on bass, no one really hears it. But add the up octave and a bit of down octave and it’s monstrous - especially with a Thunderbird!
Well shoot. Now I have to spend money on shiny boxes.

Is the foot getting you the NR? In other words - are you playing the sympathy card well?
I'm getting plenty of sympathy and being waited on hand and foot. I haven't found a NR I want yet but I did run across this and immediately thought, drop a set of Thunderbuckers in it and our Queen could rock it for all she's worth...

Looking to get a phaser- probably an MXR 95.
What (if any) phasers have you used, and how did you like them?
The Phase-90 is the quintessential phaser used by a lot of big names like Eddy Van Halen, even used on the bass line on Ted Nugent’s Stranglehold.
I’ve also messed around with Boss’s phaser. Don’t own either one, just played through before and would be happy with either.

The Stranglehold story (from Grange on another thread) is what got me looking at the MXR for bass!

I have a "Garage Tone Oil Can". Bought it to use with a POS keyboard(didn't help). Tried it with the TBird but it doesn't really fit what we do. Plus, more crap to hook up. Currently gathering dust.

I play stranglehold as well! I probably read the same thing as you and picked up a used TC Blood Moon phaser cheap. The sound was subtle. I probably could have played with it more, but the phaser went to my brother who likes it for guitar and is still using it. I ended up picking up a TC Thunderstorm flanger (again got it cheap) and can get about the right sound with that. I also use it for a rather psychedelic version of She Sells Sanctuary that we do.

Hummmm. The only effects I use are an EBS Octave and and old MXR Phase 90, and that less than 10% of the time. I use the phase more and typically on slower songs to fill in those more open spaces. Its more noticeable during softer times of songs. The EBS to thicken up when I want to add more bottom or beef up higher played parts. I don't think I ever tried using both at the same time.

I have a Bass Chorus and it just didn't do anything in a live setting. Sounds really pretty at home! I've tried a few other effects, but the one I would never get rid of is the old Phase 90. It's been with me a long time.
