Thunderbird Club

Interesting little find...
Invalid Link Removed
Might be really cool with some TBird, Lull or Thunderbucker pups dropped in.

Things happen when I'm left on my own, (idle brain, Satan's Workshop kind of thing) The Q80 and a Les Paul Oversize Gold Top are on their way to Casa Veronica.

That would be awesome! I was thinking ‘dark ambient’ when I was jamming out the parts, and yes, I have hours and hours of this crap since I pretty much record everything :)
In 3000 years, when the archaeologists dig up this civilization, they will probably get some odd ideas about what we were really like.

Thanks! The neck and toe is to die for. (But still no old Thunderbird.) Some seemed to have some really chunky and wide necks. I don't think consistency was a thing yet. But all that hand shaping made them all unique.

So you like the older style like this? (Though 57 was the transition year.) This is my 55. Different neck but love the way is feels with all it's chunkieness. Doesn't sound as good. (This was before I but the correct logo on it. That area and the body were refinished and they used a later logo. Fixed now.)

I love the light spots where the ashtrays were.

The bass obviously has a long history. It's been with me since about '81-82. I took is to Gruhns about that time and he recognized it bass. Called it the turtle bass, obviously due to the odd pick guard. It's kind of ugly, but I left it on because it also kind of cook and been ridding that bass a long time. George said it had been in Europe for about 10 years. I don't recall if he said who owned it. It was refinished with lacquer years before I got it and has plenty of honest wear. I have the ashtrays. Actually looks good wither way. Nice and light.

For no good reason (I’m supposed to be mixing a record), I felt like playing my Gretsch SpectraSonic bass, which I haven’t picked up in a long time...played it through my eurorack rig. Looping delay (Make Noise Mimeophon), into a filter (Joranalogue Filter 8) and modulated it with a Mannequins Just Friends...fun waste of a couple hours. Now back to work!

Love it - I've been hooked on such since movies like "Forbidden Planet" with it's soundtrack by Louis and Bebe Barron 1956. My brother and I both got this Robbie the Robot toy for Christmas when it was on the shelves. We promptly destroyed them both... they go for over $500 now.
