Thunderbird Club

It’s I Got You (I Feel Good)
Depends on the action on the upright. Mine has a “jazz” setup, so it plays like butta (as they say). Basses with an orchestral or bluegrass setup would be much more difficult.
My cover band does I Got You straight into Pappas Got a Brand New Bag, which then goes much faster than the original. We stretch out a sax solo, and it’s an endurance test on bass guitar.
I wouldn’t attempt it on upright :chicken:
I was doing I Got You on the upright with a fairly high action. The high action is so I can do slap triplets on several songs. CroMagnon hands have their purposes. The gut strings are far softer and easier to play than steelies, so there's that.

we thinking of the same song? if it’s the one I think, it ain’t that hard...just seems like it goes on forever..
"Riders". I really don't like the "Doors" so I don't care enuff to try it. As I said, I've read that it's tough. Maybe it's the repetition over and over and over and over, ad nauseum that's the factor.

yeah, never a big Doors fan either..
My biggest negative was their bass player-Claude Rains.

one of the main reasons I didn’t like them as well...Scheff laid down some nice tracks in the studio though...
Yup. You can really hear the difference the added real bass part made on some o' their songs.
BTW, that Rheemtm Kee Bass of mine sounds a helluva lot better than the 7ender 'piano bass'.

I can barely play the upright these days due to shoulder/elbow/hand issues. But my kid plays it!
At some point I’m going to repair a 1/2 size I have.

For you? I remember a guy copping all sorts of grief in a thread he started on the subject. It just ain’t proper don’t you know. He had a physical limitation that made the big ones very difficult I think. Extra short I think.

IMO good luck to him if it works for him.

let me guess Mike.

a) you went to school with Jim ? And he was a d***

B) you served under his a Father in the Navy ? And he was a d***
Nope, neither. I felt they were pretentious, didn't like Jim's voice or performances, and their lack of a bass man. Not necessarily in that order.

I've replaced a coupla big band UB players('til the BL's died) that just couldn't hack it due to aging issues.

I have thought about looking for a 1/2 size or maybe a cello to string up and then hang on a strap like a bass guitar. I'm not big enough to pick up a 3/4 and play it like a bass guitar, but I have attempted it a few times to amuse an audience. It ended fine, but was too awkward to make into a habit.
