Velvet. What about the velvet seats?IF I ever get my new van back, I'm planning to put black perforated vinyl on the inside of the rear side and liftback windows. They're already factory tinted about as deep as is legal, but every little bit helps.
I liked them ok early on, but was way more into Bowie, Yes, Ash....and then the Clash, Elvis and Blondie, among others came along. Listening now, they really were special.I only started listening to Skynyrd about 10 years ago. It was a pleasant surprise to find The Ballad of Curtis Loewe and Saturday Night Special.
ARRRGH DOG GERMS, I'VE BEEN POISONED, get the anticeptant!! get the mouthwash, get the antibiotics, GET THE VODKA!!!
Amen, brother, Amen. One thing I liked was that the words made sense and didn't sound like a drunken interpretation of Camus, pretending to be more insightful than the the rest of the rubes on earth listening. The music wasn't bad either!Skynyrd confused a lot of people. It’s easy for a lot of the country to dismiss the South as nothing but ignorant rednecks. That’s how the news, movies, etc. have portrayed it for years. Through such a lens, it’s then easy to take the lyrics literally to key songs, and it’s all over. But there’s a lot more depth- and occasionally subtlety- than many realize.
I was a huge fan and they occasionally confused me! Why the heck “Gimme Back My Bullets” after a sincere song against Saturday night specials (deeper than that but enough for now)? Eventually I found it was about Billboard hit song bullets, and it all made sense. But literals fans missed that and even started throwing bullets on stage. Lots of fans got it, but lots didn’t. Meanwhile, Leon held down the low end, oft on a mighty THUNDERBIRD.
I often liked some of their lesser known albums even better than the more popular.I only started listening to Skynyrd about 10 years ago. It was a pleasant surprise to find The Ballad of Curtis Loewe and Saturday Night Special.
No. Fuzzy dice, yes.not reallyVelvet. What about the velvet seats?![]()
I get a big ol' blood blister on the middle finger of my right hand if I don't play enough. I don't remember what the strings cost. They are gut D and G and wound synthetic E and A. They were expensive, but they have lasted several years now. Maybe it's time to change them? I dunno. They sound fine bowed, sound fine pizzicato, and sound fine slapped around like a skinny rockabilly guy with a whole lot of tattoos would do.View attachment 3622785

My little Ford is even more generic than your Honda. There are no windows in the back, except for the back doors, and those are dark tint. The only sticker on the van is about KEXP, a radio station. Those are on every third Subaru in Seattle anyway, which means it doesn't attract attention. It is almost the opposite. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is that it looks like a commercial vehicle, and those can be targets at times. But, because it has no roof rack or company logo, it doesn't look like a tradesman's van. Those are the vans that get hit for tools. It looks more like a van that delivers papers or maybe baked goods. No cash, no tools, nothing that can be pawned or traded for drugs. So far so good.It in part is a ruse, I like to travel as low profile as possible. The van has darkened windows and absolutely no stickers labeling it a band van. I'm more worried about thieves than groupies at this point.
Mine is(was?)the wagon version. Windows all over the thing. It's actually going to mostly be my personal vehicle. The 96 Aerostar will continue to be the main gigmobile for the local performances. My little Ford is even more generic than your Honda. With middle row seat in place.Arco with guts and synthetic? Sweet! I’m trying to go lower tension with spiro mittel’s but the E that I have is a Pirasto that sounds like a cinder block dropped on a bag of wet cement. On it’s head yet. Thinking about golden slaps but I’m not sure if the orchestral nerd in me could deal. You know how string anxiety goes.I get a big ol' blood blister on the middle finger of my right hand if I don't play enough. I don't remember what the strings cost. First prize!!! Well, this is one commercial dog that is not going to ruin my Christmas.ARRRGH DOG GERMS, I'VE BEEN POISONED, get the anticeptant!! get the mouthwash, get the antibiotics, GET THE VODKA!!!
Jeez. I showed up at a blues jam a couple of weeks ago. There were as many bassists as there were guitar players. And no one knows me. Frustrating.Did the Sunday afternoon open mic/jam thing today. I was the only bass player this week. Me, my Rumble200c, and, of course, the 67 THUNDERBIRD. All sounding great, per usual.

Yup that's my "Gertrude" and I get "Poisoned" frequently LOLYours?
A little something for my Thunderbird Brother Scott.
I visited Seattle's Museum of Flight yesterday, (it was quite the tonic for an otherwise grey December day) and enjoyed spending four hours or so amongst the many beautifully set aircraft.
Here's the MOF's P-47D Razorback. One big, badass plane.

It's hard to tell in this shot but the plane just ahead is a Sopwith Camel, the little white fellow on the wing is known to us all.
