Schecter ultra bass?
View attachment 793513

No idea if they're still manufactured. I've tried one, i like how it feels, tone is pretty clear too. Can't recall if it sounded tbird or not but it's an alternative i'd guess.

They are still for sale on the website but as Simon Gallup's signature bass. I think about getting the black one every other week.

I hate it when I hit turtles with my pick up, they shouldn't play in the street!
They need one of these...

Guess I could have been a bit more specific or at least thrown out a bit more info. Sound I'm going for - I like a nice deep punch with definition and with the T-Bird I want just a touch of that growl we all love so much. Something that will fill spots most would use a Fender for but with a T-Bird flavor to it. I play with my fingers (no picks) and I hate flatwounds, no offense to you flatwound users. Just never did like the feel. The only bass I ever used Rotosounds on was a '74 Ric and after about 4 fret jobs it was almost like playing a fretless. Which was fun but I'd like to avoid that much fret damage. If any of this is at all helpful. I realize this is all kinda relative but I'm open to suggestions, thank you.

Big fan of DR Black Beauties and Highbeams on my Birds. I used the Smith strings that the Queen mentioned earlier for a while way back when and really liked them. They used to be easy to buy locally, not so much any more. I like the angry-ish sound as well on my basses and the DR's give me what I am after.

+1 on what Andy says! :)

Have you seen this nice Sandberg T-Bird? I know it is already around for a while, but I discovered it yesterday, and I certainly like what I see!

Sandberg Forty Eight Sounds Demo
A link with some sound files, youtube has some more. I like it very much!

If you haven't checked it out yet, be sure to visit their Bass/Guitar configurator, the best of its kind that I've seen yet. I use it a lot to see if a certain color / pickguard combination would look good together:
