You were chosen by that bass. That's how it happens. Thunderbirds choose you if you are a Thunderbird person. They know, and they tell you. If you aren't a Thunderbird person, then neck dive, make bad noises, break, and generally throw tantrums to make you go away. Congratulations. You were chosen.

I often say something similar, when told or asked something about the instrument I'm playing or simply the way I'm playing it: "we choose our instruments, but they also choose us". Maybe its extra special with 'Birds and that what's happening here. Either way, that bass is amazing, can't wait to take her to rehearsal and see how she blends in our sound.

Yup it has to do with the "Ancient Native American Folklore" If the "Thunderbird Spirit" chooses you then you get to produce Thunderclaps with the beats of it's mighty wings, if not chosen & you attempt to approach it anyway, then it takes off with your first born impaled in it's Talon's or a reasonable facsimile...
