How's the RI winter this year?Rain in February is the hope... meanwhile hopefully this can get helped to die out asap. Can't imagine being in that spot. Stay wise.
IDK 'bout RI, but we're s'posed to get winter tomorrow. Be gone by Monday. How's the RI winter this year?

i was in a house band with these clowns for almost 7 years at a bar called The Navy in Marbella in the mid 80's. we played six nights a week and the contract included a 4 bedroom apartment where we all livedabove the bar....we would avoid each other on our time off....if you walked into a bar and saw another band member you would either walk out or ignore.....it got so bad, the keyboardist (white suit) would setup the PA (in the summer we played beach parties on Sundays since we didn't play Sunday nights) so that it was grounded at a different gnd feed point than the amplifier backline so that the guitarist (left) would zap his lips every time he sang and had his hands on the guitar strings
cause he used to scam on his girlfriends...one day, i woke up and thought enough and off to California i went..

loving the Curtis Novak thunderbird pickup in this little beastie, it's a proper bass now
It rings and growls, I put a Nordstrand tonedrop in it too, sounds great with the tone rolled off on both caps. Deep phat tone, pretty close to a vintage tbird sound...I had the good fortune to play a '64 and a thunderbucker and this are pretty closeI had no idea Novak made a T-Bird pickup! How would you describe it?
In the next day or two I'm trying a Fano bass for sale locally. He also makes his own T-Bird pups, which I'm anxious to hear. I love Fano stuff in general. If I decide to buy the bass, I may have a new pg made, if only to shut you tort hatin' freaks up

Notably mild. Some chill, but the last several weeks it's been definitely warmer than usual. I expect to get whacked this month with some real-deal winter, but we'll see...How's the RI winter this year?
Is this better?
Hmmm. Now I'm thinking about an all popping version of Stand By Me.A man after my own heart: I'll throw in a completely inappropriate 'pop' just for grins in something like "You were always on my mind".
Hmm. Listening to that in my head. Yep-and tasteless.Hmmm. Now I'm thinking about an all popping version of Stand By Me.
Couch bass confirms that it is doable. And in bad taste. Have to see if it pops on a Thunderbird. And if so, might have to become a staple.
Agreed. You should do it. I think I can safely say we'll all stand behind you.Hmm. Listening to that in my head. Yep-and tasteless.![]()
I never tried any of the MAG amps but just LOVE my JE Signature Pre, I'm sure it would be a worthy investigation although the Ashdown I've been curious about is The Infamous "Head Of DOOM" View attachment 3655524
What can I say, it's "Basically NIB"
And it looks better with a chrome PU.View attachment 3655492

What did you not like about the old pickup and what is different with the new one?View attachment 3655492

The original pickup in a mix was too muddy, the single coil sounded better. The original pickup is from the newer eb series it isn't a thunderbird. The new pickup is a damn close version of a vintage thunderbird. Sounds so clear, punch, growl and the tone. Silk doesn't make any difference. Inntonated spot on. Might change the bridge if it gives me any grief and casual shot of the shoeWhat did you not like about the old pickup and what is different with the new one?
Any comment on the silk over the saddle? Does it really make any difference and if so, are you considering a Hipshot or a Babicz?
Why did you not have the whole shoe in the picture? Creative choice?
I like those basses and they are right at an attractive price point. I might end up buying one.
