Thunderbird Club

Unlikely they're being discontinued, methinks. They were being displayed at NAMM.

Maybe they had to be removed from the website so that they could show them at NAMM. I never realized that the Epiphone website used live cameras to show the guitars and basses.

Falling Iguanas actually made the news on many channels in Canada.

[rant] because the news couldn't find anything to report about Canada!? Newfoundland storm, federal cabinet meeting, teacher strike, pipeline court challenges... No, frozen iguanas. No wonder we no longer trust the tv news.[/rant]

I thought the same thing! Why am I hearing about cold stunned iguanas falling from trees in Florida? I must have had contact with this stupid bit of Floridian info 3 separate times yesterday.

WGAS WGAF!

On a bass related note: Could Gibson force Epi to not make VP's?

Well, Epiphone is 100% owned by Gibson, so yes, they could.

But I suspect that they won't. Doing a turnaround of the magnitude required in Gibson is a multi-year project. Anything that is working, you don't mess with in the initial phases. I think the big undertaking that is still ongoing is narrowing the price gulf between Epiphone and Gibson. We have seen movement in that direction with more budget friendly Gibsons. Expect part 2 to be more premium Epiphones so that it there is more price overlap between budget Gibson and premium Epiphone.

Reportedly (more than one person here said), a run of Embassys had the bridges mounted too close to the nut and couldn't be intonated. I don't know the chronology. I guess these two photos (current photos at two different retailers) show the problem (edit: see the locations of the bridges relative to the edge of the wood, the pickguard screw, and the bridge pickup):

It looks to me as if the bridge that is further from the nut has the intonation issue.

Things happen in Canada? Who knew! Maybe your news just isn't interesting news. After all, frozen iguanas are riveting.
