Thank you Miles, it is hard to believe 33 years have passed. Doesn't seem like that long ago. I am a very lucky man. Take care.I am, but not as good as a happy 33rd. Happy anniversary! Here’s to y’all’s best year yet!
Congrats on the anniversary!Good evening to my Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. Just returned from the Blake Shelton concert. Bought tickets awhile ago as a anniversary and Valentine's day gift. Very nice evening with my wife. Great concert. Lauren Alaina opened the show. I was not very familiar with her music, but recognized a few songs. She played for about an hour, and her band sounded quite good. After about a 15 minute break, Blake took the stage. He delivered a great show. I wasn't certain what to expect, as he played the Moda center in Portland Thursday, and the Tacoma dome last night. Blake brought plenty of energy to the stage, and a very hot band. The show included short sets by the Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson, and Trace Adkins. Blake was later joined by each of them for a song or two. I do not know the bass players name, but that guy could play. He was all over the neck, great runs, great groove. I could not tell, but believe I saw three different basses. I believe they were Lull's.
We had a great evening, and celebrated our 33rd anniversary. Started with dinner and drinks at an Irish pub, the show started at 7, and ended right at 11. A great show. Glad he decided to play Spokane. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Awesome!I passed on this but it popped back up on Reverb and for a price I couldn't refuse. Funny I knew it would end up with me. Guess I need to order a Thunderbucker!View attachment 3709535View attachment 3709536View attachment 3709537View attachment 3709538
No less a player than Geddy Lee has been quoted as saying the same thing.Brought the Bird to it's first rehearsal this afternoon (we took an extended holiday break since our last show in December). Sounded amazing, and a breeze to play (will need a full set-up though to be perfect). Tested only with compression and VT Bass Di, needs nothing else. Bandmates were amazed by the look and sound. The only question is, why I didn't tried a bird earlier in my life? - Now I want a passive one to get a different flavor...
I recall that he said he made fun of Pete Way's Thunderbird but wishes he knew then what he knows now. And that a number of songs would have used a Thunderbird. No less a player than Geddy Lee has been quoted as saying the same thing.

Just a reminder to all US based bassists. Tomorrow is Presidents Day. Celebrate the lives of Washington and Lincoln the proper way: buy a car, mattress, appliance, flooring, etc.
Or a bass!

Yep. Great price on a nice SS. Want one, but don’t need it. At all. Thats what I keep telling myself. If you are going to liberate the Dimarzio Model one, please let me know.
Great price on the LPJ tribute. Maybe I need to have a talk with my wife.

I get it! 42 seems like a good start!Thank you Miles, it is hard to believe 33 years have passed. Doesn't seem like that long ago. I am a very lucky man. Take care.
Didn't know Mike at all, never had any of his products, but have heard nothing but good things about him and his instruments for many years. Based just on that, I feel very badly for all those who had any connection to him at all. Condolences to his family.Seems like a lot of people felt that way about him. I hate losing people... especially when the impact if their life was profound.
The price is great. Are they being blown out? And if so what are they being replaced with?*Great price on the LPJ tribute. Maybe I need to have a talk with my wife.

Foiled again.
Question: recommendation for pickup height for the standard modern Gibson Thunderbird PUPs with nickel rounds?
It sure looks like a blowout like they did with Tbirds in ‘15. They kept making birds, thank god. It seems like GC only has Gibson basses when Gibson wants them to move stock for them. Sweetwater is only listing one of them, a Left-handed in cherry. So I’m thinking they’re done. The price is great. Are they being blown out? And if so what are they being replaced with?*
* Obviously it is being replaced with a NR in all the colours we saw on SGs.
What she said.Those pesky kids!
As close as they'll go without the strings hitting them.
Sounds like progress, albeit slow and very normal. Glad things are going in the right direction. I can see where having one arm strapped down would be anxiety. I think that's a completely normal response if anyone were to think about those implications. Hang in there--with the good arm.Recovery is going.
I have been consuming narcotics all week and I am slowing on that as pain abates. Yesterday and today I have not been counting down until the next dose, so improvement. But I am left with a limited amount of time with full mental faculties available and that has to be reserved for work.
There are a few big issues to deal with aside from pain.
Everything is one handed. The left arm is strapped down so that there is no shoulder movement. And that is all the time including sleep. So a bit tough to do all kinds of things. Worse is I feel restrained trying to fall asleep; rather anxiety inducing. Being strapped up lasts 6 weeks.
I can't do much. So, I am not burning much energy and it makes it difficult to sleep.
I took off the large bulky surgical dressing after two days. The smaller bandages and steri-strips beneath remain until first follow up next week. The dressing contained poly-isobutylene to which I am allergic. So in taking that dressing off, there was a rash underneath. Skin came off along with the dressing. That was... a little painful.
On the upside, I never realized that shaving is kind of two handed. So I'm growing a beard. Maybe I'll eventually get to a full on ZZ Top.
I don't make fun of left handed players as a matter of routine. But if it combines with some other strangeness such as tanks of compressed air in the background...
You got it!The Thunder Birds?

Congrats on the anniversary! Hopefully many more are in store. Glad the evening was a great one and you both enjoyed concert. While accepting praise from the inebriated after last night's gig I kept wishing my eyeballs had windshield wipers.
