We try to play to our audience. The drummer makes up a sort of set list as a guide. Usually about 3 songs in and we're off the list based on what they're dancing to and what requests we get. We also have a few regulars that follow us from club to club and we do their favorites as appropriate. Dunno what it's like out your way, but we get a lotta requests for "a line dance"; almost all women, looking like a not precision drill team. And there's always one who's gonna show the rest "the right way".

No, no line dancing. People 'move' to the music, but not much dancing in general. More of a local hipster crowd. One could dance and sometimes do but most people just like listening. I do want our band to entertain so in that way I try to construct a set that is fun and diverse for an audience to listen to. We don't play any 'hits' other than a song that was a hit in its day and in general our set is pretty unpredictable. It keeps people engaged because they are trying to figure out our 'hook'. We don't get requests either- it would be odd if we did and if we did the response would always be a sort of incredulous stare. (are you talkin' to me? 1 2 3...)

i’ve been looking at some other suggestions, we also seem to have a rash of Burl Ives up for consideration. LOL.

pearly shells, itty bitty tear, mockingbird hill, to go along with You are my Sunshine that is a long term list favourite.
At least these might work, and may work with ukes and guitar (over accordion.)

True. If we were to do a whole night of just songs I like(not necessarily ones I sing), we wouldn't be asked back. Which gives me an idea: do his favorites at a place you'd just as soon not go back to again. 'Course that could backfire.

Well, we don't do any current hits. I think the 'newest' song we do-sometimes-is "Takin' Care of Business" or "Old Time Rock n roll". Interestingly, 2 that I sing. Oh. And "Tennessee Whiskey", which I don't sing. People love it, I catch a nap. 2 chords: A and Bm. Ad nauseum. Nothin' appropriate one can play to make this song interesting. I considered trying to do something in a different mode but the only one I liked was the com-mode.
I do most of our between song bullsh...., er, patter, and I often say "all the songs we do you've heard before....today....within the last coupla hours."

I thought he meant Teflon as in artificial. Not a real Thunderbird like his 64. Just my take on it.

we get some singing and some clapping, some air conducting.

biggest thing for us is that it jogs a memory and it has a sing-along chorus. Que Sera Sera kills.
As does Morningtown Ride and some Aussie songs like (I love to have a beer with) Duncan, home among the gumleaves, Waltzing Matilda.

LOL - there's a number of good sounding but boring bass line songs. Call Me The Breeze comes to mind. I like the song but nearly fall asleep playing it. I've resorted to playing the entire song with one finger on the E string just to keep myself awake.

Hmm. I'll hafta try that-if they reinstate the Sunday open mic/jam at the H-D dealer. At least it's better than droning 16ths on the root, esp. those songs that stay on the droning root 16th(say A) even when the chord changes(to D and/or E-still on A ). It'd be easier to hit the root on a synth and use a sequencer. Then you could go grab a beer. or a groupie

Not to good at keeping up here... but just a buzz: Covid-19/Corona Virus is now documented as present in Rhode Island. My wife has athsma, my daughter is pregnant, and my younger at URI does poorly with respiratory-type illnesses so we're on high notice. I forget things, so as well as hand sanitizer (fwiw) I'll have notes all over the place, and will be washing my hands at every opportunity. And I'm gonna have to stop picking my nose...
Just saying, this is going to stop being somebody elses' problem.

Ah mannnnnn! That isn’t first time that’s happened on that Tbird. The splines are practically gone. The good news is that it’s on the “safe” side where you don’t have to be ultra careful not to compromise the ground wire. You might have to bite the bullet and use cya. I’m not a fan of epoxy on guitars. YMMV. You can try this “safer” fix first:



Maybe glue thin toothpicks around the hole, like maybe six, first. Research on the web before you start. Also, use some wax on the body around the hole, mask around the hole and you can clean up any mess. It’s an Epi with poly, so wax won’t hurt it. Be patient. Let it cure well.

You probably know that Hipshot True Tone is the replacement for the Epi due to the “flange” on the inserts. But that isn’t a perfect fix until the inserts are fixed. Some people crank too hard when installing those and pull up the inserts.

That happened to me when I installed the Hipshot. I just put 2 drops of crazy glue in there. Works like a charm.
