Thunderbird Club

DC at bridge and CS at neck. That's what I did with my Gibson Tbird (with custom pickup surrounds). Still sounds like a thunderbird although more even string to string and highs/high mids are a little more pronounced. Definitely cuts through better than the original Gibson Hbuckers (I went through two sets of Gibson Hbuckers before giving up and going with EMGs).

Dude we are pretty easy around these parts. Dont give up hope, lefties are around. Keep checking FleaBay, Cracklist or any of your other fav haunts.

I have a Spector Rex and a couple of the other guys do as well, love em.

What is that beautiful bass called again? The Reverso? Is that what its called??

Yup the "Reverso" the original Master Shop version

It's too quiet here today so the Queen says you get some Thunderbird pics.........
A beautiful day here in Seattle with the promise of several more to follow meant it was time to give one of the Subarus a good cleaning on the inside, along with a bath and a new coat of wax.
I've been playing these two a lot lately dialing in the Ampeg model on my Line 6 - it's a bit different tone for me, a little less clank but more mids/ high mids, I'm liking it so far.

Cheers!

Adam's (yeah, we're tight like that. I know him as Adam and he knows me as "Hey! How did you get in here??!!?") has the buzzard headstock. They have one in the Warwick factory showroom in Nashvegas.

Thanks, that's somewhat counter-intuitive, cos I would have bought a pair of whatever.

DC? CS?

A Thunderbird through an Ampeg is one of life's great joys.

Unfortunately I don't own an Ampeg rig, but would love too...

However, I do have a virtual one in my Amlitube Ampeg SVX software (SVT-Classic, SVT-4 Pro, BA-500, B15-R Portaflex models)

Anyone care to share their settings, so I can try them out?

The more growly, the better! :)

So... I've bee sourcing a lot of spare parts for some mods I've been wanting to do for quite a while...

As mentioned several pages back, I'm planning to turn both my Epi Pro-IV and Pro-V into passive basses, and since their pickups are already passive ones with active EQ circuitry, it should be a fairly easy mod.

My initial plan was to re-arrange the controls slightly and wire them VTVT with a 3-way toggle, for which I have all the parts.

But after reading the posts and schematics by redstrand on page 742, I'm intrigued to maybe use a parallel/series switch instead - Or maybe take it a step further than that:

The Pro-IV/Pro-V pickups have 4 conductur wiring, with 2 wires soldered together - If these were unsoldered, would it be possible to do coil-splitting by using two mini-switches and get some similar pickup combinations as on the Gibson 2015 T-bird?

Obviously they wouldn't sound identical, since the pickups are different...

Any thoughts on this? Have any of you guys done coil-splitting mods to your Pro-IV/V's?

If neither of the above mods work out, I could always throw a set of HongKongbuckers in them, but that will be the last and most expensive route, since I would also need to get chrome bridges and tuners as well...

I'm thinking the T-bird might be a good candidate for a 'steampunk' look.

It is a great candidate and we discussed this a while back but God only knows what page we were on then. This thread moves super fast!! There are a few examples out there if you search for Steampunk guitars on Google. I have a burst that would be a good candidate but have yet to make a move on it yet. Someone here may have some pictures to share from the previous discussion.

Plenty of guitars out there:

Hey! He called me that too! Quickly introduced me to this big burly dude who helped me find the exit too! Such nice helpful guys! ;)
