Thunderbird Club

Can someone post a pics of the early and later VP tuners? Thought I saw that here recently but can’t find it.

Need this kind
Hercules Stands - Hanging Guitar Floor Stand PLUS

Not this kind
Hercules Stands - GS414B+ Upgraded Auto Grip Hanging Single Guitar Stand

It appears both are current and available. But one is better for a Thunderbird...
The GS414B hanger works great with TBirds. Absolutely zero issues with how the body shape rests against the legs. Being a three point contact (neck+left side of bass+right side of bass) is significantly less prone to movement or tipping than the two point (neck+center of back) hanging stand. I had one and quit using it because it was too easy to bump the side of the bass and cause it to swing far enough for the raised TBird neck block on the back to get hung up on the back rest. Not a good design for a TBird at all. I'd take a swivel cradle stand before ever using a two point on a TBird again.

But the Hercules three point is still my favorite...

They are fantastic pickups. They are amazingly hot, so you have to think about what you are doing with them. They can sound very much like a Thunderbird, but they can do all kinds of other things.

That's a fantastic price for that bass.
Anything under $1200 for a 2015 shipped with hard case in very good to mint condition is a great deal. This one does have some player wear but nothing that appears to impact playability and most of it not even visible from a safe social distance away.

It would be fun to have you in the ‘15 sub-club. But I’m like you. If gut says no, then no. So far I’ve been pretty lucky trusting the instincts.

I can feel it's a good one, but the gut is absolutely saying no.
It's too bad i have to listen to it, besides all it's other rumblings.

What bridge is that?

Officially, I don't know. My Gibson Bass Book says it's a" 3 D" Bridge. I would likely equate this bass and the Non Reverse re-issue, they're both set neck and in stock condition use the same pickup. This one is in beautiful shape and it's my intention to leave it stock.

With this talk of ‘15s, had to post this for THUNDERBIRD THURSDAY!

And it has the official 2015 black replacement pickguard with a gold Thunderbird. That's a required upgrade for a 2015. Link Removed needs to know this, because that bass has his name all over it. And it needs the official 2015 club pickguard upgrade.

It looks similar to a Hipshot A bridge but is longer more like a BA bridge - looks like a very good bridge. Is that the "studio" model from a few years back?
