What bridge is that?

ABM bridge. Came out around the same time as the Hipshot model A. Has a longer saddle path than the Hipshot I believe.

It appears both are current and available. But one is better for a Thunderbird...

The GS414B+ works great for me. He just need some extra foam on the legs of his. I'm guessing that's at least part of the "upgrade".

Did not have time to try them yet. Hopefully this weekend.

Just put a set of DR Pure Blues on my not-Thunderbird and the first thing to say is they hold tuning right from the start, don't seem to need stretching at all. Also have the deep tone and fundamentals I was looking for on the JC.

I may have posted it around the time it was taken but: Here's a pic of The Thundercat, from about 2 months ago (Its a Crafted in Japan, Fender Jaguar, with Lollar Thunderbird pickups in Black Chrome). Forgot to put the little P-Bass ashtray back over the bridge, after the last string change:

Just put a set of DR Pure Blues on my not-Thunderbird and the first thing to say is they hold tuning right from the start, don't seem to need stretching at all. Also have the deep tone and fundamentals I was looking for on the JC.

Pure Blues are great strings. Their fullness and respons in the low end, reminds me of the discontinued Dean Markley Helix strings. The stainless versions of the Helix were my fave tone. Stainless Low Riders are now my go to. That's what's on The Thundercat! I had Pure Blues on my Carvin Icon 5, for a long time.

My ‘15 is the best bass I own. The neck is perfect for my hands. Mine feels very light; not sure exactly, but I know it’s less than 8 lbs. I call it “the tone monster.” Some of us lucked into them during the GC “blowout sale” in the fall of ‘15. Mine was $999.00. I’ll never sell it.

That's wonderful to find such a bass that is so perfect for you. Great price too! When did they stop using that pickup?

I really like that '15, and I could buy it. But it's a want, not a need. I'm going to be semi-responsible, and order some Chinabuckers instead.

And what are the switches, coil taps? Is it passive?
