The saddest part to me is that this is a 2001 model. That is the magic year for Thunderbird's according to some of us.

I wonder if there is any magic left. My 2001 will never get altered much besides strings.

They only put those in Thunderbirds for one year. They put them in EB models from 2013 on.

So if one were to consider a modern Gibson, the '15 is the Big Bird? Generally speaking.

Is there are place where the modern versions are compared and differences explained?

I’m never parting with mine. Tell him there’s one on Reverb right now. It’s a bit steep though, but they’re nice bolt-ons. $800 with a case and shipping.

I may have posted it around the time it was taken but: Here's a pic of The Thundercat, from about 2 months ago (Its a Crafted in Japan, Fender Jaguar, with Lollar Thunderbird pickups in Black Chrome). Forgot to put the little P-Bass ashtray back over the bridge, after the last string change:

You may have noticed the mojo, on the recent pic. The black chrome has tarnished a bunch. The strings/magnetic field seems to have somehow informed the tarnish pattern. There is some patina on the rings. And one of the mounting screws for the bridge pickup is missing.

I know there a few fans of this company on here. I haven’t used their bass stings yet, but I really like their guitar strings. Good reason to do business with them.

Here is The Thundercat through an Ibanez PD7 Phat-Hed pedal. Set to some huge setting. Recording through the pinhole mic of an MP3 player, when I was just messing around. Just before the end riff, I switched to the bride pickup with the aforementioned series switching.

*there's an option for 720p/better quality, in the gear settings toggle button thingy
