Confusing, according to the data, both yours and mine were built the same day but you have a #2 production number and I have a 583? Either Gibson made more than the 400 we thought or they were picking numbers from a hat that day. Doubt the former to be true since building over 500 NRs in one day seems a little unrealistic but who knows?....
Can they build (or at least finish) a total ~600 instruments in a day? Even that seems a lot. But it may be that they use factory numbers rather than allocating discrete number ranges to the different types of guitar and bass.

They seem to have several styles they play, or did last time I listened to them. The bass player seemed to have an affinity for Gibson basses. He played an old EB of some type and then switched to Thunderbirds.
Can't remember where I read this, but I believe Production Number is for the entire factory.

That's correct, Ken. It's the total number of instruments produced in one day, regardless of type.

My oldest bass is my Fender Jaguar Bass. They released in 2006, but mine was made in late 2005. I bought it used in 2008 or 9. From the TB classifieds!
There is so much blending these days, particularly with newer bands who combine so many genres, influences. Frankly, It is fun to try to figure it out. I’m less label centric now than I‘ve ever been. I used to say “I hate country.” Hard to say that now.

I confess, the Les Paul bass is very interesting and is on the future acquisition list. I don't think I've played one, but they are very interesting. Yours is wonderful looking. A Pelham Blue sure would look great as well.

My oldest is the EB-2. Guitar Dater Project isn't much help in figuring out when it was made. Gibson did wonky things with serial numbers. It could be anything from a '67 to a '70, depending on what you find. I think it's probably a '68, but who knows. Newest is the '15 'Bird.
Gotta love Gibson Gold Tops! (The little black outfit ain't half bad either).
My Gibby Memphis, medium scale semi hollow body LP, plays great...
And of course my Gibby 2013 Anniversary Bird...
Looks like I need to add a LP solid body Gold Top to round out the picture. Are they full scale?
