Thunderbird Club

After having tried several including nice black knurled and domed metal knobs, I decided nothing looks better IMHO than black/silver reflector knobs, which I have put on all my instruments... :)
My entire reason for hating speed knobs is that they're ridiculously hard to remove if you want to switch out the knobs or do anything that requires removing the pot.

Two I replaced with the top hat knobs, and one I replaced with some random old pointer knob I found that was probably part of some old pedal.

Not that new come to think. The TRBXs. Mahogany body like a T-Bird, big humbuckers in what look to be similar positions.
I look them up. Sounds cool.

But...

But... It's a Yamaha..! :/
Yamaha makes some good basses. Best PJ bass I ever played was a neck-through BB.

Dangdangdang, that nonreverse with the thunderbucker ranch pickups just simply kills. My really good 2009 Reverse just cant stand a Chance. Wheh.

Hello my Bird Brothers and Sisters! Well........ To make a long story short, life is forcing me to make some tough decisions........

one of which is to offer this to anyone here who may be interested. PM me... not listing it in classified.... although I did list a vintage Jazz Bass.....
if you really have $ to burn. :) View attachment 842450View attachment 842451

Sorry to hear you have to let them go. Hope things improve for you soon.

I'm sad to hear this. I too have been in the same position. I wish you all the best. Remember, it's just gear. It can always be replaced.

My accomplishments of yesterday & todays work. All that's left to be done is filling in some minor gaps in the body & a final sand to 220 grit before varnishing in semi gloss. Tomorrow sees the end of neck shaping, tuning key installation & drilling & fretting. Next week sees its completion just in time for my friends Toronto Gig (to which i'll be joining since i am their Roadie :D )

How do you like the EB4? I've toyed with the idea of adding one. Is it very Tbird-ish?
I can't speak for him, but I had one, sold it, and now it's back. I sold it to my brother with the string attached that he had to sell it back to me if he ever sold it to anybody. It can be a bit T-bird-ish, but it's a different animal. It can do a fairly convincing 7ender imitation if that's what you want. It can also be a whole lot thicker sounding in an aggressive way. I think it's as good a slap bass as Gibson makes, although I'm not much of a slapper. They are completely versatile. The aesthetics are quirky. Not bad, just different.

Forgive me for intruding on the thread, but I figured this would be the place to ask:

Does anyone have a set of TBird saddles that will work in the Epiphone Thunderbird bridge? If so, would you be willing to sell them?

Thanks!
I've got a 3-pt bridge in chrome, with the threaded studs for a Gibson body. I could give it to you for cheep...
