Thunderbird Club

Saw a real 2015 Gibson T-bird in the wild for the first time a few nights ago watching a great Aussie band The Bennies- what a tone, just amazing. Played with a pick, just deep and fat and dubby, but no doubt with a lot of tones in it with that coil tapping. Maybe in a couple of years I might see one on special or 2nd hand.

I think it's been on special for a while now, as they didn't sell too well...

They still go for about $2800 here in Australia. It is probably not $2200 better than an epiphone

Yes, they are too dear in Australia still.
Gallins/ Musician's Pro Shop (the Australian Gibson Distributor, as I understand it) has them on their site for $2499 (free shipping by the look of the site), as has Allans Billy Hyde- online- which is cheaper than than the 2014 Gibson TBird models at Pro Shop.
You might be able to talk the Pro Shop down a bit further. They have shops in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as well.

After having switched out the knobs on my T-bird... I've decided that I hate speed knobs.

After having tried several including nice black knurled and domed metal knobs, I decided nothing looks better IMHO than black/silver reflector knobs, which I have put on all my instruments... :)
