Thunderbird Club

Top pic is mine - lower pic - ? :) The T-40/45 pu is a bucker that allows you to split the coils - it has a cool tone. :bassist:

Thats from Gildaxe and many of his basses use Epiphone thunderbird necks.

Here is the reverb listing for that one

I discovered gildaxe after I bought my VP about 3 weeks ago. Had I discovered before, I would have bought a gildaxe, rather than the VP >_>

This one was VP priced. Looks like it sold.

It's a cool bass. very light, balances well and has a gnarly rock tone. Very similar to my own Teiscobird with the same (Guild Dark-Star/B-Sonic) pu, Epi T-bird neck and Hipshot KA bridge that I use in my band TSC's. Both bodies are from the mid '60 - made in Japan of mahogany.

My son's girlfriend is an oboe and English horn player. She is a classical music person who plays what is written no matter what. I gave her a washboard to mess with. She loves it! It is loud, obnoxious, and completely without notation of any kind. It will take a while, but she will enter into the vast world of unwritten music. BWAHAHAHA!
Ask her if she's a fan of P.D.Q. Bach, the only composer known to have written for double reeds without the use of oboes, English horns, or bassoons.

My tail of shipping woe:

Traded another TB'er for a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes pedal. He shipped it and sent the tracking info. Supposed to be delivered yesterday but it does not arrive. Check the tracking and shows it was delivered.

?????

Turns out it was delivered to an unrelated address, about 15 miles from here. Another town, another house and I am willing to bet they have no idea what it is. USPS say I can't file a claim for 15 days for a lost package.

The Tb'er tracked down the number for that branch of the local post office. I will call them on Monday....

I think the system overall is starting to breakdown beause of the volume of pacakges being shipped.
They've advertised that they're hiring. Could be they're hiring idiots.

Had to swap in the Supertone to get the Cobalts to intonate. That definitely pushed me toward the white PG, although Sharon and I agree they're both gorgeous. What do y'all think? She looks right at home in the case formerly occupied by Leon. But he's a free bird, so he was happy to move into the soft case. Calls it "cozy". She said her name is Pattie ' like Santos, who sang "White Bird" (and many others) with It's a Beautiful Day.

Now that Pattie unleashes the thunder, I'll give the RS66s back to Hela and see what I can do with an angry piano.

Good morning Chucky and happy Saturday. The matching set of tubes is a great find, and I bet sound sweet in that head. I have to ask, is that your TR6 in the background? Those are too cool! I have lusted after those, and XKEs since I knew what cars were. Anyway, thanks for bringing a smile to this ol face. Take care.
Indeed it is! Thanks for the kind words Border...74, backdrop is the Mission in Hitchcock’s ‘Vertigo’ with Jimmy Stewart.

Thanks for all you guys sharing your experiences on the recording topic with me! Guess I will have another talk with the producer now :)

Normally, I string my T-Bird with DR HiBeams and run it through a B7KU with the attack switch engaged. As many of you stated, I never felt that there was a significant lack of highs. Of course there is a difference to a J, but I am confident now that I will achieve good results. Hope to share the recordings with you as soon as they are done, but probably not sooner than fall due to the Covid situation.

Nice! Think I like the white a little better. Both look good in their own way, but I lean towards the white. I have three black basses but am not one who has to have black on everything.

I like seeing bands live or youtube and they all got together and wore......black. No imagination. I'm not one to care about "stage wear" being more interested in the music, but I always wanted to ask, "Is there some magical power to wearing black?" And, "You know you don't stand out when all of you wear they same thing, right?" I can imagine the dressing room conversations. "What are you wearing tonight?" "A black shirt. No, not that black shirt. The other black shirt that goes with these black pants, not the other black pants."
"How about you?" ..... Story endlessly repeats.

I saw him a couple times with the Kansas City Symphony - totally fun!

The community concert band I'm in did one of his compositions a few years ago. The audience-and some of the band members-didn't "get" it. We were s'posed to do 2 in our Spring concert. That didn't happen. No idea when we'll resume. I may forget how to read by that time.:banghead:

A funny thing about PDQ B is that when he was conducting the KC Symphony, there was a gag where he kept correcting the lead violinist and then expelled him from the stage... or that's what he wanted. The older 'esteamed' lead violinist had a big ego and no sense of humor and wouldn't stand to be corrected, even in jest. So another member (a young woman) of the violin section volunteered to be 'corrected'. The hierarchy of a symphony is pretty conservative at the pointy end, even if made up of people of all persuasions. Sounds familiar...
