Thunderbird Club

Our Queen here seems to like them and a few others don’t seem to mind them. First thing I did when my NR arrived was order a Babicz for it. I prefer the solidity, be it real or imagined. To each their own.

This may incur some blasphemy on my part. Couldn't bond with the 3 point.

Scott's BB, a custom 2 piece, Hipshot, Babicz. But i'm a modder.

Ah ok i was just curious because I could never get that damn thing to work for me.
One our highly respected and beloved members refers to the three point as a piece of pot metal rubbish. I’m not as harsh, and still have them on two Epis where they are working properly. But I am a fan of both the Babicz and Hipshot and prefer them. There’s a decent guide to making it work that pops up here from time to time. I can’t find it, but perhaps someone else can if you need some help.

Are there any other members who actually had success using the stock 3 point or just went for the HipShot
I've got one on the '76. It does what it's supped to. Silks can be an issue, but I can't tell it affects the tone when on the saddle. I don't like the looks, and the saddles will fall out if you flip the bass over with no strings. But in the end, it works and does what it should. But I do like the Hipshot on the modern Gibson better. Prefer the vintage two piece even better for looks.

Be smart about it and take your time working on it, no problem. No Hipshot hanging over the center block looking like it doesn't belong there. Sorry, just my .02.

No problem-o with the 'claw' and bridge on the 67. Silks end about 1/2 way.
