Glad to hear! Yeah, the 2013 Thunderbird is the only one I know them on, but I obviously love them on it. And they do seem to last a long time.I like them a lot on the Studio, they're probably the best strings matched with the stock Gibson pickups that I can recall, I'll certainly keep using them on this bass. When the time comes to buy some more strings I'll pick up another set to try on a different Bird - Thanks for putting me onto them!

LOL - my string follies typically go something like this...That always happens to me:
Make a plan of stings matched to basses.
Place order.
Wait a week or two.
Why did I buy these strings? What was I going to put them on?
I'd leave a note to myself about it, but I would forget where the note is or not remember what it meant.
Neck through? Nah, then it wouldn’t sound like an NR...I wish they come in a neck-through non-reverse style - there's something in the neck-through construction that makes the higher notes really sing with clarity, yet they take a bit of trial and error to reach. Maybe I just gotta get used to it.
BTW does anyone notice a different betwen a '19 and previous pickups? Mine sounds a lot brighter and clearer than any video I've seen. Or maybe it's my amp.![]()
You really need to keep notes.LOL - my string follies typically go something like this...
Hear a good review on several different types of strings.
Place an order for about five different sets of strings.
Install them on a five different basses.
Initial impressions good=keep, bad=pitch, but wait until the keepers break in before posting a review.
After a few months playing I decide I really like them and will do a review.
But now I can't remember what string they are and the package was thrown away.
Post a question on TB asking if anybody can identify these strings by the ball end and silk color.
Get ten varying responses so now I'm completely uncertain about what I have, but I like it.

Now, where on earth did I put those notes?I save the package with a note saying what old strings are now in the new strings' package. That tells me what was on and what now is, and also makes it possible to put the 'olds' back on if I don't like the 'news'.You really need to keep notes.

Nice! I think standard wisdom is to do only 1/4 turn at a time and let it settle. If it were really out of whack, personally I'd go more towards 1/2 turn, but YMMV.I have a 91 Gibson Thunderbird and while I always had a luthier set up my bass, after watching Dave World of Fun Stuff on Utube, I thought I would give it a shot at setting up my bass. It has been sitting in it's case for a long time (maybe 1 year) and the strings are too high. First thing I will try is adjusting the truss rod. It seems to have a hump where the neck meets the body. Where do I get the specifications for setting up this bass, looked online but didn't see any.

Ill make a note of that.
....and three months from now...

Oh sure, if you have only one bass... And what kind of maniac would have only one bass?I save the package with a note saying what old strings are now in the new strings' package. That tells me what was on and what now is, and also makes it possible to put the 'olds' back on if I don't like the 'news'.
The six Members did vocals. There were so many musicians in and out during those sessions.Plus the 'wrecking crew' and who knows how many studio cats.
Yeah. The notes feature on the iPhone/iPadis a handy app. Just hard to remember to use it. Doh....That always happens to me:

I go the old school way, clipboard with setup sheets. Includes what bass/guitar, strings, measurements before/after, etc.Yeah. The notes feature on the iPhone/iPadis a handy app. Just hard to remember to use it. Doh....
I have 4 down from 5. Still a maniac, though.Oh sure, if you have only one bass... And what kind of maniac would have only one bass?
Something tells me that @Gaolee is laughing at us, realizing we’re all just like him, only it took a long time for us to come clean about it.Yeah, what could go worng with a note....
1. Where did I put that note?
2. What the hell does Dr105 IV 20/4/3 RR SS try Ni mean?
3. Fail to read my poor handwriting.
I'm sure there are other interesting possibilities that I haven't though of.
How cool is that. I've never seen one. Thanks MCF for posting that! That is a cool Firebird!
Gear of the Month: 1966 Gibson Firebird V-12
That version is well done. Several of them in it were obviously born after the Beach Buys recorded theirs for Pet Sounds. I think it’s a testament to Brian’s genius. Think about how perfect theIr sound on it was, recorded in 1966. And there were only six of them.
