This raises a question. Why doesn't Gibson shave the notch on the set necks, or extend the neck down to the body, like on a Les Paul? It seems like such a simple thing to do when it comes to aesthetics.
Personally, i don't mind it. It's not like anyone sees the back anyway, other than you, and if you do actually show it all around. But pretty much every set neck from gibson, at least their basses, are like that. Ripper, RD, etc.
