Ha! Question (indirectly) answered in less than 10 posts. Note the pickups on these two late 1980's Gibson basses, a Thunderbird & a Thunder Series. They look the same on both four and five-string.

There's quite a lot of collective knowledge here and you' re most welcome to ask questions - However, I'm not aware of any of our members working for Epiphone directly.

Well it just me wondering a) why epi doesn't make lefty t birds and B) will they? I had a 2013 Gibson lefty t bird but I sold it ,( couldn't pass up 3,000! I had several dillions ( neck like a ball bat but nice otherwise,) a tokai ( ******** elongated headstock) and a custom order $1200 Gaskell, ( real crap there) so I really want an epi. I love the classic pro and I'd probably buy 4 of em! Gibson made them, I don't see why epi won't. I have a Spector 4 p basses, ibanez sr, a Kramer but man the t bird is just the perfect shape! I can't spend several grand for customs anymore.

Good question!
And I'm not even a lefty.

Maybe... Maybe they don't need the money. Backwards, forwards they still rock. I've heard all the financial stuff yet stuffy ass Gibson did it. Fender, squire, ibanez, dean, Jackson on and on, they all do it and seem to survive. Spector does it too!

Since you are in Denmark and no doubt watch soccer and not American "football"......my two '64 Thunderbirds with the Mardi Gras beads and guns are relevant to the photo because they are the New Orleans Saints football team colors.....go over great playing them in front of New Orleans crowds.

I hate to dissapoint, but I absolutely HATE football or soccer - So no, I don't watch neither of them... :)

It only took Gibson 49 years to make lefty Thunderbirds, Epiphone is much more a mass production bass at a lower price point, not trying to be a downer but I be surprised if they ever did any leftys. If you have to have one I think a Gibson is your best bet.

My theory regarding the lack of left-handed Epi TBirds is that the Chinese/Korean/Japeanese word for "lefty" is the same as or close to the word for "black".......so every time an order for a lefty comes in, the factory worker just paints another black right-handed Epi by mistake :)

On a more serious note...don't the factories that make the Epi Thunderbirds make other brand Thunderbirds that probably come in left-handed versions and are basically the same bass, just branded differently?

here is a great site for lefty players looking for gear:

Anyone know where I can source chrome bridge posts?
All the ones on ebay are aftermarket and for Epiphone by the looks of it.. About to take delivery of a NOS Ebony thunderbird, has the black hardware though.. and I HATE black hardware! I have a spare Gibson bridge in chrome but not the side or front posts (from an old SG bass I had, some pinhead chewed the hell out of them trying to adjust the bridge with a flat head screwdriver while under tension..)

Yeah, I can tell from your album cover...hahaha

LOL..! Good observation, indeed... :)

Actually that horrible cover was made before I joined the band and has been the source to a lot of problems for the band - like poor sales for example (despite having made an excellent album) and lack of shows.

At that point the stage show incorporated two girls in very tight military uniforms with (you guessed it) machineguns and other military paraphanalia... :)

We've since abandoned this concept (fortunately) since it was way over the top, and had an adverse effect on the band - both show wise and internally.

Not making things better - the "cover girl" was the singer's wife, and they went through a nasty divorce later on... So the concept had to go... ;)

It was a fun concept for a while, but it proved problematic in the long run...

Alright as promised here is a picture of my new Thunderbird bass (and my current rig and also nevermind that Marshall practice guitar amp). I have only been able to spend about 30 minutes with her since she arrived on Monday due to being busy with other things, however within just that small amount of time I was and am very impressed. I love the feel of it and the tones I was getting while messing with the bass and my amp. It pretty safe to say I am a believer in rocking the T-Bird now!

I *think* Tone Pros makes chrome posts that will fit Gibson ferrules, and are threaded the same.
